Last I read they were still in the PAC4 More quality there with thosr 4 than the AAC.
Re: From ACCSo do I understand correctly: Clemson, Florida State, UNC and NC State are blackballing us because they all want to leave the ACC and are only one vote short of the number necessary to dissolve the conference? They worry that Stanford and SMU will side with the others if such a vote arises? I've got news for NC State: Neither the B1G or SEC want them.
Re: From ACCI have not been following this as closely as many, and definitely do not understand all of the nuance, but..........
Purely from a common sense fan perspective, it seems very square peg round hole of us to attempt to shoehorn an invite to the ACC where we know at least 2 marquis teams likely want to leave as soon as possible, thus creating a possible Big East 2.0 scenario. I know there is no such thing as a PAC 4 media deal, but if those 4 teams somehow stay together, adding the best of the rest from the AAC and Mountain West to the remnants of the PAC looks like it would be a better fit for SMU, and maybe even for the PAC 4 teams too. Not an original idea I know, but still feels like a viable option if several variables fall into place.
Re: From ACC
form a 10-team new look PAC now and then scoop up some of the ACC leftovers and other high performing AAC schools later for an eastern presence Stan, Cal, Wash St, Ore St, Boise St, SDSU, Colo St, AF, SMU, Tulane
Re: From ACCGreat excepting Boise. Stanford and Cal powers that be forbid their inclusion
in any potential alignment. Maybe substitute UNLV. Last edited by orguy on Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:35 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Sources: The potential additions of Cal, Stanford and SMU to the ACC are again under serious consideration by the ACC. A small group of ACC presidents met Wednesday morning to discuss financial models that would come with the additions.
Re: From ACCNC State is probably hoping for the NC governor to give them the VT deal with the B1G or SEC. You don't get UNC without us (then it was Miami and FSU). However the dynamics have changed. Those two conferences would say OK, just stay in the ACC and pick up the phon e and call Miami or VT or GT or Pitt.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Re: From ACCTwo reputable sources. I still feel like it’s now or never and I’m glad to see the administration and donors are doing everything possible for ACC membership…it seems like an ideal end game for us. And regardless of some of the criticism I’ve seen in the chatter-verse about what SMU is offering behind the scenes, I think it’s a smart decision if it happens.
Re: From ACCIt’s ABSOLUTELY the right thing to do, and if this actually happens (I believe it will) it will transform everything!
Re: From ACC
I am not an NC native (Tennessee, as you might guess), and I lived in NC only 2 years after graduating UNC. But I know UNC well, including its senses of obligation. UNC definitely would want to avoid ever leaving NCSU behind. That would be bad for the state and for its higher education more specifically. UNC also would be almost as loathe to leave Dook behind. The campus literally are 8 miles apart.i used to bicycle over to Dook all the time. And UNC and Dook Med schools are almost one in the way they work together. So while FSU clearly wants out ASAP, UNC wants to find some way to save the ACC as a truly Major conference. And FSU and Clemson are the only members that average more than 70,000 fans per game, so having them is very important to that. There are no easy answers for any of us right now. I am far from aline among UNC fans in opposing UNC going to either SEC or BT. But I fear that those 2 leagues and their corporate bakers are determined to kill the ACC so that can take the parts they want.
