Thanks to AAC and Mike Aresco
We owe some thanks to Mike Aresco and the AAC and we certainly wish that conference well. I did not agree with adding NTSU, but Aresco kept us in the conversation and fought a good fight to get the AAC to Power 5. We have great exposure on ESPN (even though the ESPN+ broadcasts are not great). We has some great experiences in the AAC that will serve us well in the ACC. God Speed AAC. Now let's go win the AAC Football Championship in our last year!

I agree with your appreciation for the American Athletic Conference and most notably Mike Aresco, who's vision and efforts on behalf of all members past, present, and future has been exemplary.
I just saw that the AAC will not pursuit Oregon State and Washington State. Too bad for both schools as they didn't deserve their fate as the last two PAC-12 Teams.

Have to assume the MWC will be thrilled to welcome Oregon State and Washington State and their additions could help make the MWC the 5th strongest football conference that might get an auto invite to the CFP, although Tulane, UTSA, Memphis, ECU and the AAC will have something to say about that

I think the Oregon State and Wazzu end up with a ton of cash after all of this as the last two standing in the PAC(n). Maybe a merger with MWC, but in reverse so the PAC money stays with the two remaining. Hopefully, something good comes out of this for those two schools.

Also first-class by Aresco who praised RGTurner and said "Turner doesn't owe us anything, SMU has been a great partner institution," or something along those lines.
He kind of had to say that to save face, but he did it with sincerity when he could have badmouthed Turner/SMU. I'll never have anything negative to say about Aresco.

The American has been a very good home for SMU and I will always have fond memories of our time in this conference.

Re: Thanks to AAC and Mike Aresco
I really came to like the AAC. Obviously I'll take today's news ten times out of ten. But the AAC has been great. Maybe not quite the same without Cincy, UH, and UCF. . . but its been a good home for SMU.
Honestly, I'm still kind of shocked about this whole thing.

So long AAC and hello AAC. With the latest round of college conference changes, it was time for SMU to move on and move up. Now let's see if TCU still wants to play us.
