Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoThis is probably the best and most in-depth article. I’m not going to lie I got a little emotional and filled with pride reading this article.
I know it’s already been stated numerous times. But thank you to David Miller and the rest of our extremely generous donors that put this together. As you can see getting in wasn’t just because of the money, but rather the drive to do whatever it takes to make this happen. This group of people’s love and devotion to SMU is second to none. https://sports.yahoo.com/inside-smus-pu ... 39541.html
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoThat's a fun read and I get back to TCU's hiring Sonny away as the "final straw" that has motivated our big money donors. Time for all of us "little guys" to do what we can to help!
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoMy Gosh, what a path back to the big league.
At the corner of Bishop and Binkley, I set up a donation drop box for us Small Money Donors (SMD's) for the La Tech game. Nobody knew about it was there, and you had to notice it and read it to know what to do. It is for Ponysportsdtx a NIL Collective. It was cute to see a 7- to 8-year-old boy put 20 dollars in that his father gave him... You know what the father said. Son, now you're helping the Mustangs. It is my way as a SMD to try to all the other SMD's to chip in what they can. The BMD's did their part. Go Mustangs G. Last edited by BUS on Thu Sep 07, 2023 12:48 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & Cogreat and interesting article. Perhaps it is time for Thad Matula to make a sequel to Pony Excess.

Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoThanks for sharing the article PP. It was great. Our big donors are wonderful and we’re all very appreciative for everything they’ve done!
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & Co“It’s a couple hundred million dollars,” Miller said. “I’m not losing sleep over it.”
Most gangster quote of all time. Love it. Who's making the shirt? Cuz I'll need to order about 10 of em ...

Reddit is usually hilarious and some of those comments, especially the "Arrested Development" ones, are priceless. ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & Co
Fantastic article pulling back the curtain a bit. Amazing how it played out. I walked past a lone Miller last Saturday on my way up to the stadium (the street between Bishop and Ownby) and he just gave me a smirk with his shoulders seemingly pulled back and his head held high.
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & Co
I learned something of major importance from this article: the SMU AD is a UNC grad.
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoA very special thanks to all of the BMD's out there. Especially David Miller.
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoThis story is an example of the type of perseverance that exemplifies the best of Dallas. David Miller should have already been on your Christmas card list for all he has done for SMU. Now he has brought an early Christmas to all of us.
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoI love how Cal and Stanford participated in zoom calls to meet with League officials but Miller flew around the country in his private jet to his meetings.
Old school lobbying.
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & CoWhat an amazing article! Very thankful for all that was done by these guys to get us in!
Re: Behind the Scenes Journey to the ACC - David Miller & Co
In fairness to them they are a bigger deal today and were also in the sort of shock SMU was in in 1994. SMU had to work harder and did, but I completely agree with the comment that this was Dallas deal-making at its best.
