ACC watching SMU
A bunch of yellow jackets tonight in the man cave have been watching the game.
Come on SMU your offense needs to make some things happen!!!
The ACC is 5-1 vs the $ec (but E$PN or finebaum wonΓÇÖt mention it)
Not gonna lie, IΓÇÖve never watched SMU until tonight but we are pulling for our future conference member!!!

Re: ACC watching SMU
We came in 16.5 point dogs getting very little love but this could go either way now
Re: ACC watching SMU
We could have made a worse first impression, I'll say that.
Future looks good for us right now.

Finebaum and ESPN are not going to acknowledge any ACC football quality that might be seen as marking the SEC as less than they demand it be seen as being.
Finebaum and the SEC will now focus on the Pac being overrated.

This. Also, the PAC is not overrated. And SEC teams donΓÇÖt fall nearly far enough when they lose.

We are excited to join the ACC and grateful for your votes.
You ACC long-timers don't know yet whether or how much to dislike us. On the other hand, we have laid before us a virtual smorgasbord of teams that we can potentially despise, merely dislike or ignore, or with which we can form shallow, opportunistic alliances (i.e., the enemy of my enemy is my friend). Looking at you, UNC, FSU and Clemson... you aren't exactly our favorites at this early juncture.

Hart: SMU Will Not be Dead Weight in the ACC.
ΓÇ£LetΓÇÖs look back five or 10 years from now and see how we compare then,ΓÇ¥ he said. ΓÇ£And I think itΓÇÖs going to be incredibly favorable. We know thereΓÇÖs a gap, and we know we have to make that up and weΓÇÖre confident that we can do it. ...
ΓÇ£ItΓÇÖs not in SMUΓÇÖs DNA to go into a league where we canΓÇÖt compete. ... We also knew the ACC would want assurance that we were not going to be dead weight, that we were going to come in, add value and be competitive.ΓÇ¥

So long as the ACC is watching SMU, let's also watch the ACC. I know Duke has done and will do dumb things before--and more importantly schools are not accountable for what random Internet crazies do--but this is fairly outrageous:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... ligibility
Meanwhile, here is the Duke Basketball Report (DBR) take on this denial of eligibility in context of other events that did *not* merit a special meeting of the UNC BOG. I find DBR hot takes to be hit-or-miss, honestly, but this one I fully agree with:

Syracuse fans I suspect will have some NY/TX stuff going on but both schools are very close in profile. I expect we'll have a good rivalry.
Re: ACC watching SMU
One thing Syracuse won't have to worry about is us competing in lacrosse for the foreseeable future. With Title IX and our limited income from TV, I doubt we will be adding sports. Syracuse has a great history in lacrosse and probably the greatest lacrosse player of all time, Jim Brown.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Re: ACC watching SMU
IIRC there used to be a pretty good Lacrosse team that was affiliated with SMU. Not a university sponsored team but independent

Re: ACC watching SMU
We have a very good club team - number 1 or 2 in texas the last few years.
I wouldn't rule out lacrosse as the first team to add. It has support already and we built the field for a D-1 view down the road.

Re: ACC watching SMU
I suspect if you add anything it'll be Women's Lacrosse for Title IX.
Re: ACC watching SMU
Congrats on the ACC invite.
