Same story tonight with great defense but poor perimeter shooting. Give Lamar credit for playing tough D in the paint and keeping this game competitive

Tyreek Smith with 8 points and 6 boards in that 1st half. Smith also went 4-5 on his FTs. Harris with 8 points on 6-6 FTs and also has 4 rebounds. SMU with only 1-9 threes

Lamar hit only 7-31 FGs including 0-5 from three. Both teams have 4 steals. SMU had some trouble (briefly) with Lamar's full court pressure but not able to break that pressure and convert easy buckets to get Lamar out of their press late in that 1st half

Williamson and Phelps can't buy a bucket tonight but this team is much deeper in scorers than last year's with Harris, Tyreek Smith & Edwards all stepping up. Ambrose-Hylton has been solid in these 1st three outings. SMU up 53-39

Lanier is feeling it tonight. His 3 treys gives him 11 and he joins Harris and Tyreek Smith in double figures. Plenty of time for a couple more guys to join them. Now 61-44 midway thru 2nd half

Definitely looked like some tired legs in those last 5 minutes but fortunately we have enough depth that our guys responded every time Lamar tried to make a run
