I remember Dave Bliss' strategy in trying to build a Top 10 basketball program was just trying to keep a couple of the top players in the DFW area from leaving town. Same holds true for football...just keep more local talent from leaving and if they do, bring them back via the portal. Pony up what you can!

Note that all of our transfers except for Lockhart have been downgraded as transfers vs how they were rated coming out of H.S. with much of that because they either didn't become starters at their current schools or suffered injuries that limited their playing time. Hope they all come back next year healthy and play with huge chips on their shoulders. Lots of fans on their former schools' sites calling them soft and just not tough enough to play big boy football. Make them eat those words!

Those composite rankings can be misleading. At least 9 schools ahead of us have a lower average rating per player but there are also several ranked lower than SMU that have higher per player ratings
