Florida State discussing future in ACC after CFP snub

Re: Florida State discussing future in ACC after CFP snub
ND is a stand alone...they will be fine whatever the outcome of the ACC. There is always a Lafayette to add to the schedule if the ACC is torn asunder.
For us, the ACC is a MUST.
If FSU has a case that a court grants it standing (almost a given in Florida) then it can proceed. I still think they will try to see what legal options are deemed worthy, but the majority of this is for public consumption.
My wife is an FSU grad...she was disappointed at being shut out of the CFP, but is now embarrassed by the Seminoles' grandstanding. Since we live in College Station, she noted that this behavior mimics "that school in Austin".
I so outputted my coverage with her...

so where will the case be tried? fsu filed in fla. and the ACC filed in NC. I think the contract stipulated that any action be in NC but who knows?

What in the world does this mean? The perspectives of SMU and ND align about as well as those of Manchester City and Luton Town (not at all). And while ND will be fine if the ACC blows up, there is no scenario in which SMU is better off. How much worse is unknown. But definitely not as good as if the ACC that starts competition in fall 2024 stays together.
Notre Dames's conference of choice was the ACC. If the ACC blows up, they have no where else to go (if they so choose). They probably wouldn't consider the SEC or Big 12, and they have already turned down the Big 10 multiple times. Remember the COVID year when they needed a conference? That just could happen again.

ND at some point either must join the BT or else act to make certain the ACC remains a Major conference. Just ND going full football would lead to FSU backing away from the ledge. That would force Disney/ESPN to up the TV money.
But the ND selfishness is supreme.

No, ND can and will join the B1G. They donΓÇÖt want to, but they absolutely will if the ACC falters.

Notre Dame is a perfect fit for the Big East with the Catholic 7 and UConn. They have nothing to sweat.

Who knows what ND will do under Pete Bevacqua? Change is inevitable.

Is FSU going indie? Because what other conference would want to have a contract with a college that has a record of suing to get out of their last one?

Hope FSU stomps Georgia with their 4th string walk on QB and then comes into Ford next year, undefeated and ranked number 1, before we dismantle them.

I don't know whether Georgia will have their full roster participating but clearly FSU will be without several of their playmakers and I expect them to get drubbed which will bring out all the haters saying it was obvious FSU didn't deserve to be in the final four ahead of either Texas or Alabama. Too bad these playoffs weren't expanded to at least 8 teams long ago so at the very least a P5/6 conference champion would have had an opportunity to show how they measure up
