I don't know what constitutes "so much" of his time, but I've seen him at several games, including a few this year, and he must be hooped-out with his Mavs duty that started this year.

I've heard him talk about SMU in the past. I know he liked Coach Dement, and I think he genuinely likes Coach Bennett. Hopefully COach Doherty can build a rapport with him and get on his show with some regularity.

Real upbeat stuff. He's no friend of SMU.

Chuck is a realist. He knows more about college sports than any media member in this city. I remember hearing something similar from him in the past. What he meant was that with the lack of apparent support SMU had showed for football, he didn't see why we even bothered having the program. He had a great point.

I would love to see Doherty on the air regularly on ESPN or (more likely) The Ticket. He's a great salesman and someone people will actually keep the radio on to listen to.

It really was nice to hear a coach talk about being a Top 25 team. He added, "it only takes 3 great players and a couple of role players to get to the Final Four." THAT is a refreshing attitude... something we haven't heard in about 20 years around here.

I can't help but think Cooperstein is somewhat of a Frog at heart. For a couple of years, he was TCU's play by play guy on the Ticket. Imagine Rich Phillips 10 years from now...I'd expect him to maintain a little fondness for the experience that gave him "RICH! RIIICH!!! He Caught it! RIIIICCCH!"

Most posters on this board want no part of truth or reality. They think reporters should be our cheerleaders and replace fact with fiction. Cooperstein is a true sports junky and prides himself in being knowledgeable about everything in sports. That is the only explanation for him ever stepping foot on SMU's campus. The reporters will report good news about SMU when there IS good news. One more thing, our present reality does'nt mean the future can't be better, but acting like a communist country and revising fact is just stupid.

Coop is the best there is in this town.
In a swamp of gibberish presented as information, Coop is a breath of fresh air.

I heard most of the interview. Prior to the discussion about the DISD issue, Coop and Matt discussed the facility upgrades. Matt spoke about how Moody is very similar to Cameron Indoor and Coop mentioned that it was nearly identical to The Polestra in Philadelphia. Reading between the lines, it would seem as if Jerry Ford wrote Tubbs' buyout check and made some sort of commitment to making the practice facility a reality. Let's all hopes that Max Williams goes back to hunting big game and leaves our program alone. He donated money to the program ito upgrade the lockeroom and coaches offices in the mid 80s. I can't recall seeing him at any games until this year, when his grandson rode the pine.
