What a shame. Harris had a pretty good game and was the only guy who shot well in the 1st half, then helped get us out to a big lead but simply choked at the end. Took a hurried 3 and missed as our lead was evaporating, then alligator armed a clutch one and one FT opportunity and then tried to dribble through the entire UAB team as we needed to get off a last shot. Really disappointing ending to that game for him in particular

Not a shame. It's a shameful performance by everyone on the team and it starts with the coaches.

New power conference with this type of finish, losing hope again, again, and again

This team may well have played their way out of any post season invitation but if I am going to be the eternal optimist I would say we may have just played our way into the 6th seed which could work in our favor. Assuming this team can even win a 1st round game (very questionable the way they are playing now), they might get Charlotte in the quarter finals and that might be the best matchup for us?

Rob Lanier (paraphrasing) after the game:

ΓÇó Credit to them, they made shots, plays, free throws
ΓÇó We had an opportunity on FT line and missed several
ΓÇó Felt like "we weren't the same team after last 4 games," but thought "that team was back in second half" — if they show up like that, they can compete
ΓÇó Needed "kills" (three consecutive defensive stops)
ΓÇó Loss means 1 day off instead of 2, then a couple of days to prepare
ΓÇó Hopefully 4 games in as many days — he and coaches will have to manage players' minutes

Charleston Pony wrote:Williamson, Harris and Phelps a combined 15-29 and 6-12 from three today. This SMU team is tough to beat if they keep shooting like that to close out this game

Spoke too soon as this trio missed their last 5 shots including going 0-3 from three

SMU 8-15 FTs

UAB 27-33

SMU with 26 fouls vs UAB's 16. The Blazers were just much more aggressive going to the bucket especially in the last 5 minutes

Rest won't be an issue as they aren't winning another game. I look forward to the season ending because this is a trash product and just pisses me off.

This team is only as good as it's guard play and Ricardo Wright and Jalen Smith disappeared today. They took a combined 4 shots and failed to score but did pull down 3 rebounds each and Smith had 3 assists. Will need more productive minutes from them in the tourney

So 4 teams finished at the bottom of the AAC with 5-13 records and will be the #11 - #14 seeds. We should play one of them in our 1st round game. The bad news is that we went 2-2 against the bottom feeders of the AAC this year. Doesn't bode well for the Mustangs

I think this team flew under the radar early this season and overachieved. They just don’t have the guy or guys that can win the close games. Can’t make the big play with the game on the line. We ended up with a gaudy NET ranking that skewed our perception of reality. They doubled their win total from last year, and hopefully are building towards a brighter future.

Team doesn’t know how to close out a win. Choked on a double digit lead on the final minutes by shooting to many low percentage 3 shots :!:
May the forth be with us.
