Mrs Bairds Bread

Post by bubba pony »

'68 - '72. We would go for a bread tour late at night and got free hot bread with lots of butter after the tour

I believe that is a photo of the one in Fort Worth, but yes the tours at the one by SMU were great.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

A few of us went so often they would just take us directly to the finished bread to eat.

Here is the Dallas Mrs. Baird's bakery. Mockingbird and SMU campus just off to the right:

Put out a really nice smell on the south end of campus when the wind direction was just right

Sure did. If you weren't hungry when you left your dorm for dinner, you were starving by the time you got to the cafeteria because of the smell. The bread wasn't particularly good, but the smell ... mmm.

Also, the tennis center looks a lot better than that place.
