ExpectationsWith MD as our head coach, what should we expect from the basketball program? Will we continue to be overlooked by recruits? Will the basketball team return to the NCAA tournament anytime soon? Will the Dallas public come watch the games? Will the students pay attention to the sport? And most importantly, how long does MD stay?
If nothing else, I expect the offense to be more efficient, and the defense to be more organized. Beyond that, it's hard to make any predictions without knowing who will fill out the roster.
final four appearance, cusa champs, cusa tourney champs, nit champs, and beating the harlem globetrotters.
duh Sir, shooting-star, sir.

Rex Walters and Assistant Coach SlotsLooks like Rex Walters will be the next head coach at Florida Atlantic
http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2006/apr/2 ... ob/?sports So a couple of assistant slots remain open, perhaps someone with Dallas/Texas connections? In the trivia category, Doug Wojcik at Tulsa is another Doherty assistant who became a head coach.
You are such a funny clown.
Re: Rex Walters and Assistant Coach SlotsI would think that has to be a no-brainer. I have no doubt Coach Doherty can recruit, even in the DISD, but hiring a Dallas-connected assistant would go a long way toward smoothing things over.
I do expect us to smell like a pile of dog doo this coming season. We might be at .500 if we play the half of our games against Galludet. I am certain that our conference record will be less than .500. If that happens, I don't want to hear one peep from those who wanted Tubbs fired.
You won't from me. Tubbs has left such little talent that I will give Doherty 3-4 years before I evaluate his performance. Of course, if he commits recruiting violations, I will bid him farewell. Willis to slot receiver!
East, Tubbs went 4-10 in conference. And that is with a much more talented roster than Doherty will have this season. I will continue to beat my dead horse... I firmly believe that we will be no worse than we were last season in spite of the fact that we lost Bhop and now Morris. In fact I would not be a bit suprised if we actually improved some from last season.
Because of his name alone, Doh will have a much longer grace period to improve our record than Tubbs ever had. It's harsh, but that's reality. When you can put on your resume, "AP Coach of the Year", and you've been successful at ND and NC (even if his success only lasted the first year), those are the perks. But I fully expect us to improve our conference record with Doh at the helm, don't underestimate how hard the players will work for him. And straight X's and O's will not be a problem.
