Coach Lashlee made the tough decision to go with Jennings over Stone, not very popular at the time. I think everyone could see that Lashlee knew Jennings was the better QB that gave us the best chance to win, but felt pressure to start Stone.
What if Jennings was the starter at the beginning of the season, never looking over his shoulder? I think SMU would have won the BYU game, opener against Nevada, unsure, but after watching KJ, I bet he would have got it done.
I know Stone on the bench is a hard pill for some of us to swallow, but the right move, those two back shoulder throws to RJ were NFL quality. He takes care of the ball.

Jennings played practically the whole BYU game. We didnΓÇÖt score a touchdown.
Re: What If?
BYU looks like they might be pretty good. Jennings getting first team reps and the resulting returns look pretty good, no? He did not have the prior to the BYU game.
Re: What If?
No he didn't. We actually made some plays when he played those two series, but we went with Stone the rest of the game.SMUstang07 wrote:Jennings played practically the whole BYU game. We didnΓÇÖt score a touchdown.
Re: What If?
Stone got sacked 3 times on 3 drives against BYU, but he avoided more.
There's a reason the offensive line was juggled around after that game. I don't know that it would have mattered who was back there.

I really shouldn't drink and type.

Re: What If?
For several reasons, we are a better team now than we were 3 weeks ago.
- going with ONE QB instead of a platoon. I have never seen that work.
- choosing KJ over PS. I think KJ is better because he takes coaching better, but that's just a hunch. He is also more difficult to pressure.
- our OL is better now.
- we made A TON of mistakes in the BYU game, including the dumb fumble by Brashard when he was trying to lateral.
