Sitz Selected As ACC Diver Of The Week For Third Straight Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC/SMU) – SMU freshman diver Luke Sitz has earned ACC Diver of the Week accolades for the third consecutive week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
With the honor, Sitz becomes the second diver to ever win three subsequent ACC Diver of the Week awards since its inception in 2012. He is the first freshman to ever accomplish the feat.
The Prosper, Texas native added two more wins last week against TCU and has won every event he has competed in this season.
On 1-meter against the Horned Frogs, he recorded a score of 379.95 to earn the victory, and he scored 383.60 to win 3-meter.
He's reached NCAA Zones Standards during each of his events this season, clinching his spot at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships on March 9-11 for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships in late March.
Sitz's fast collegiate start was foreshadowed earlier this summer when he recorded two top-four finishes at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials, the highest finisher below the age of 20 on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.
The Mustangs enjoy nearly a month-long break before they return to action on November 20-23 at home to host the SMU Invite. The teams participating in this year's Invite are Hawaii, Drury, UC Santa Barbara and top-10 ranked Stanford.
