SMU Wins 12 Events, Takes Down Rice

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU Women's Swimming & Diving recorded 12 wins to claim its dual meet victory over Rice at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center, Saturday.

The Mustangs made four program top-10 performances and four NCAA Standards in the meet.

SMU's quartet of Jimena Leal, Isabella Krantzcke, Tiffanie Ruan and Madison Parker won the first event of the day with a time of 1:40.21.
The Mustangs' squad of Rachel Anderson, Hannah Lockyer, Isabella Bedoya and Madeleine Hebert clocked a time of 1:43.93 to place third.
1000 Free
Mira Szimcsak won the 1000 free with a time of 9:57.12, while Olivia Lind placed fifth by clocking 11:11.69.
200 Free
Summer Osborne placed second by touching the wall in 1:47.96, followed by Madeleine Hebert in third with a time of 1:50.04.
100 Back
Jimena Leal claimed victory in the event by throwing down 53.73, followed by Teia Salvino at runner-up with a time of 54.29.
Lauren Priest finished seventh with a time of 58.25.
100 Breast
Isabella Krantzcke clocked 1:01.35 to win the 100 Breast, while Hannah Lockyer touched the wall in 1:06.79 to place fifth.
200 Fly
Mira Szimcsak placed second by clocking 2:01.06 and Carlotta Scarpitti placed fourth with a time of 2:03.12.
50 Free
SMU swept the top-three finishes, with Madison Parker winning the 50 Free with a time of 22.84. Isabella Bedoya followed in second place with a 23.15 mark and Tiffanie Ruan in third place by clocking 23.28.
Lauren Priest placed seventh with a time of 25.55.
1-Meter Diving
Saide Klepfer won the 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 275.85, followed by Natalie Stubbs in second place with an NCAA Zones qualifying score of 269.55.
Jaclynn Fowler placed third by scoring 257.18 and Reagan Evans is fourth with 252.75. Ava Anderson scored 210.68 in an exhibition.
100 Free
Madison Parker claimed her second event win of the day in the 100 free by throwing down 49.72, followed by Teia Salvino at runner-up with a time of 50.39 and Summer Osborne at third, who clocked 50.62.
Isabella Bedoya placed fourth with a time of 50.76.
200 Back
Rachel Anderson won the 200 Back with a season-best NCAA B Cut time of 1:56.63. Jimena Leal finished third with a time of 1:59.19.
Lauren Priest placed sixth by swimming 2:05.22, while Olivia Lind placed eighth by clocking 2:06.26.
200 Breast
Isabella Krantzcke won her second event of the day by throwing down 2:15.19, while Hannah Lockyer placed fifth with a time of 2:25.10.
500 Free
Mira Szimcsak placed runner-up with a 4:51.56 mark, followed by Madeleine Hebert who threw down 4:56.57 to place fourth.
100 Fly
Tiffanie Ruan placed third with a time of 56.44 in the 100 fly, while Carlotta Scarpitti placed sixth by clocking 57.52.
3-Meter Dive
Jaclynn Fowler won the 3-meter dive with a score of 283.95. Natalie Stubbs placed third by scoring 252.45 and Reagan Evans placed fourth with a 243.23 score.
Sadie Klepfer placed sixth by scoring 189.15, while Ava Andersen scored 220.35 in an exhibition.
400 IM
Rachel Anderson claimed her second victory of the day in the 400 IM with a time of 4:15.40, making an NCAA B Cut. Carlotta Scarpitti placed fifth by clocking 4:29.06.
400 Free Relay
The Mustangs closed the meet on top as SMU's quartet of Madison Parker, Teia Salvino, Madeleine Hebert and Summer Osborne won the event with a time of 3:20.22.
SMU's squad of Isabella Bedoya, Tiffanie Ruan, Mira Szimcsak and Jimena Leal threw down 3:23.88 to place second. Isabella Kratnzcke, Lauren Priest, Hannah Lockyer and Olivia Lind placed fifth with a time of 3:35.67.

This Dual Meet against Rice highlights the improvements the Women are making this season.
