Boise has played two real opponents this year and lost one. Our overall week to week challenge has been far greater IMO. They have one good player who carries the team. They also just struggled against 0-5 Nevada who we also struggled with early in the season. Not so sure they get past Colorado State in MW championship game. Overall I simply think it's the media pumping up the G5 candidate to make the silly G5 rule fit the optics of public opinion. Humans are involved, otherwise it should be the top 12 rated teams. I pray they draw Ohio state first round if they make it as their run defense will show how 1 dimensional Boise really is... Love you all and Pony Up

Let’s maybe slow down a little on the “silly G5 rule.” This is the first season really ever that every FBS school starts the season with at least a theoretical chance of competing for the championship. That’s a good thing, even though I agree with you that the Boise love is absolutely out of sync with reality.

The G5 inclusion makes sense when they're a top 12 team. This rule is to wash away the UCF sins of the past. Boise is not undefeated UCF. I don't care where the 12 teams come from just that it's a data driven process. Not going to happen with human bias involved. Until then I'll continue to lean on stats and data and root for the most deserving 12 teams.

Lashlee & O'Brien both commented how unfair it is to the ACC and Big XII to justify SEC superiority by claiming the ACC is weak when Miami loses @ GA Tech but defending the SEC as "balanced" when Alabama loses @ Vanderbilt. Don't even get me started on the Notre Dame bias

Ehh.....

I'm all about the ACC but there may be six schools in the SEC better than Miami right now, and one of the flagship programs in this conference may be the single worst team in the P4 with its only win coming in-conference. We need to tread carefully on this issue.

Funny enough, the two biggest threats to our inclusion, should we win out the last three games and lose to Miami (or whomever) in the CCG might be Wazzoo and Army. If Army beats Notre Dame and goes undefeated, they need to be in, even over us in that scenario. And frankly, it wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit to see Wazzoo get in after all they've been through.

Here's your problem, though: there is not a data-driven process in place that somehow determines the "most deserving" 12 teams. It's all human bias anyway; the only question is whether half of FBS gets a single spot held for the tallest little person among them, or half of FBS really has to prove they're Top 4-6 to overcome B1G and $EC bias and get into the playoffs as the 12th seed--and in many years would still be shut out entirely.

Listening to Ward at the presser after the most recent "reveal" of the CFP ranking, you keep hearing him use the term "eyeball test". So forget the data points and analytics. It is the same criteria of "historic programs" and back-room bias, only this time BIGGER AND BETTER.

I can see a point for SEC bias, I can't justify 4 big 10 teams in the top 5. That's ridiculous considering Indiana and Penn State have essentially no good wins

I feel like they may have. Same with the two late TCU TDs when our D went soft in the 4th Quarter vs. TCU's 2nd team at the end.

Notre Dame is pulling their starters at the end of the third quarter and the backups are piling on more points in the 4th in all of their blowouts (the backups put up 21-0 on Florida State in 4Q last week). We unfortunately don't have the depth of ND yet.

Step 1 - Beat BC

Step 2 - Beat the tar out of Virginia (would be nice to do so much more than ND does this weekend so that there is some sort of comparison).

Step 3 - Beat Cal

If those late meaningless TDs are hurting us, that just proves that the committee is not watching the games. Impossible to prove one way or the other, I know.

For all those dissing the G5 auto bid, be careful because the SEC and B1G would like to eliminate all autobids.
