So, we are projected to play at South Bend and if we win that game play in austintatious.

However if we win out we get a bye.

In the words of the great Al Davis:

Just Win Baby!

Key takeaway here is that the committee is finally giving the ACC some credit (at least forced to do so with all the 3-loss teams from the SEC) with two teams making it in the top 12 (in this case, top 9). That would be ideal.

I was expecting Indiana to stay ahead of us so very happy to see us jump them as well.

LetΓÇÖs win the conference and leave no doubt and we can host a CFP game at home! How amazing would that be.

If we still make it without winning the conference, I donΓÇÖt want us playing in South Bend against ND in December. I think we would match up much better against Perv St or Tennessee.

If we win out to make the CFP and get a 1st round bye we would not get to host a playoff game as the quarterfinals are played at the former NY6 Bowl sites. If we lose the ACC Championship in a close game for our 2nd loss, we might still earn an invitation but would be playing a 1st round road game somewhere...probably against the # 5 seed which I assume will be the Big 10 or SEC runner up.

247 Explains SMU's Move to # 9 https://247sports.com/college/smu/longf ... 3/#2552202

Here's the money graph:

Q. How did you separate Indiana and SMU, specifically what datapoints or things put SMU above -- allowed them to kind of -- what put them at that 10th spot below SMU specifically at one loss?

MANUEL: Yeah, like I said on the ESPN interview, Indiana played well at times against Ohio State, and obviously Ohio State pulled away in the second half. We felt also SMU has been playing really dominant football as of late, with the way they played against Virginia at Virginia, they've had some great wins, only one loss. Kevin Jennings is one of the dynamic quarterbacks in the country at the present time. So we just felt that SMU and their play on the field, they moved ahead of Indiana this week, and we'll continue to monitor it as we move forward.

Translation: we have tremendous recency bias. Therefore, SMU needs to annihilate Cal this week.

Just win. Annihilate would be nice. Cal is no pushover. They have not been slaughtered by anyone this year.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Time for us to change that. Let's get some style points with this win. Nothing is guaranteed but it would be nice to play the ACC championship a little more relaxed.

YouΓÇÖre right. Still learning the new rules. getting a home game in the first round isnΓÇÖt bad either given that the next game is on a neutral field. however, for us, a CFP appearance means either a first round bye as a 3rd seed (by winning the conference) or weΓÇÖll be ranked 9-12 and having to play away in the first round. Need to win the conference.
