Hatch, Colley, and Reasonable Rankings

Postby GHammond » Tue Dec 10, 2024 10:16 am

Lots of incessant chatter on social about the flaws with the CFP rankings - an almost daily diatribe primarily centered around Alerbama and SMU, ALL subjective. Checked some ranking sources that use math and data, for those in the back row, objective. Guess what, SMU in the top 10 in Colley, Hatch, and Reasonable….many of the complaining blue bloods won’t like where the computer placed them. Beat Penn St!! PonyUP!!

Too many people reference the "eye test" as a measure of a team's strength. The problem with it is that not only is it subjective, but it's not even a very good subjective measure. It is almost impossible to mentally separate what you are looking at from reputation. Alabama may look good, but that's at least partially because you expect them to look good because they are Alabama.
