Rogers Named Sports Illustrated First Team All-American
Story LinksNEW YORK (SI/SMU) – SMU kicker Collin Rogers has been named a Sports Illustrated First Team All American as a kicker, the publication announced on Friday.
Rogers became the SMU all-time leading scorer this season, getting up to 352 total points. This season, he has 120 points, just six behind his number last year of 126.
For the season, he is 23-31, with seven field goals from 50 yards out or more. The seven is the second most in NCAA history, just one back of Tennessee's Fuad Reveiz who hit eight in 1982.
Rogers' 23 field goals are tied for third nationally, and his average of 1.77 per game ranks sixth. The Prattville, Alabama, native is also a perfect 51-51 in PAT's this season.
During the Mustangs' game against BYU, the junior set a new program record with five made field goals. He also set a career long with a 55-yard make in the win at Louisville on October 5.
Rogers was named a Lou Groza Award semifinalist on November 19.
Eleventh-seeded SMU is set to make their College Football Playoff debut on Saturday, December 21, at 11 AM CT. SMU will face Penn State on the road at Beaver Stadium, and the game will air on TNT in addition to streaming on MAX.
