The ACC schools are in alphabetical order TBA so maybe not 5 straight road trips

Need another home game with some FBS program. Undoubtedly trying to negotiate a home/home deal with someone and I would hope Hart is talking to Oregon State and Washington State as they haven't filled out their schedules

ACC schools will release their schedudes next month.

It will likely be an FCS school, unless SMU can convince one of FAU, ULM or USM to visit.

OSU & WSU completed their schedule as they'll play each other twice this upcoming season.

Would be unusual to play two FCS schools in the same season and only one win would be allowed to count towards bowl eligibility (I think that's still the rule). Looks like ULM has 8/30 open like we do but they would probably want to return visit. Maybe we could do a 2 for 1 with them?

Oops. Just checked the ULM schedule and all of their non-conference games are on the road so they actually need a home game. FAU is probably looking for another home game and USM doesn't have dates available that will work for us

They need a road date but they already have a game on 8/30 which appears to be the date we need to fill, depending on what dates we are eventually scheduled to play ACC games

Didn't know that. Hard to keep up with the G5 these days. Good to know as we can now look to the FCS ranks for a home game only

Looks like Lindenwood (MO) and Tennessee Tech out of the Big South both have openings on 8/30. Hopefully our program has advanced enough that Ford will be close to full regardless of the opponent and SMU can afford to make it worth it for one of these schools to open our 2025 season

Tennessee Tech finished 7-5 last year, 6-2 in their conference and lost a close non-conference game at Middle Tennessee and got crushed at Georgia so they like "money" games. They have a game scheduled with Kentucky in November (one of those late season money games the SEC likes to play)

Lindenwood played at Kansas last year to open the season and got whipped soundly

Southern Illinois of the MVC has an open date on 8/30 but they play at Purdue the following week so don't know if they want 2 money games. They played at BYU last year

Mercer from the SoCon has an opening on 8/30 and also has a November game at Auburn

Haven't checked the SWAC but they might have some teams that need another money game

Plenty of SWAC teams have openings including Grambling and Prairie View - both schools we've hosted before. I remember the Grambling game at Texas Stadium back in the Pony Express era. Always entertaining when high energy SWAC bands perform at halftime

Plenty of schools from the Patriot and Pioneer Conferences have 8/30 open so there should be no shortage of schools to negotiate with. Again...we really need to have strong enough fan support to at least draw close to 30k for an opening game against some FCS school. The larger public schools that can put 50k plus in the stands have a clear negotiating advantage for these games

Mercer is playing Week Zero. https://fbschedules.com/mercer-uc-davis ... s-kickoff/

Overall, there are still multiple FCS options available but the number dwindles by the day.

Their week zero game is in Montgomery (close to home for them) and it looks like they would still have 8/30 open so we could open against them and they would already have one game under their belts. I think a SWAC team makes the most sense

Someone remind me of why we are playing a road game vs Missouri State.

Does this have something to do with Vandy being too scared to play us?

The home slate is fantastic. Miami, Syracuse, Louisville and add Baylor. All four could be ranked.

Road is not bad at Clemson and at TCU. But we are well built for all of it and I CANNOT WAIT!!!! Go Mustangs!!!!
