ESPN.com: ACC considering championship game change

Post by PonyPride »

Because SMU had to hold its breath on a CFP bid after losing the conference's title game, the ACC reportedly is considering giving the regular-season champion a bye and having the No. 2 and No. 3 teams play in the "title" game.

Perhaps another option is to play the game the same weekend as the Army Navy game. A week after the BCS selections are made.

That suggestion seems better, because the idea of a championship game without the top seed pretty much negates the inclusion of the word "championship," doesn't it?
