7 Mustangs named All-ACC Academic team
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (SMU/ACC) — Seven SMU Men's Tennis student-athletes were named All-ACC Academic Team as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday.
Jerry Barton, Louis Cloud, Vikas Deo, Georgi Georgiev, Noah McDonald, Ofek Shimanov and Trevor Svajda earned the honors for their excellence on the court and in the classroom.
To earn the award, student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 GPA in their most recent semester while maintaining a 3.0 career GPA. On top of that, they must compete in 50% of the team's contests through the season.
SMU is one of only two teams with seven or more student-athletes earning the honors, with Stanford being the other.
This is not the first academic accolade members of the team have picked up this season. Barton and Deo were named as members of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team in May.
