Mustangs drop road match to Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas (SMU) – The SMU women's soccer program fell 2-0 on the road to Texas Tech on Thursday inside John Walker Soccer Complex.

SMU (3-2-0, 0-0-0 ACC) battled the entire game and fought hard in the second half to come back but was unable to find the back of the net.

Shot totals were almost even in the first half as the Mustangs were able to generate a couple of good looks at net, but it was Texas Tech (4-0-1, 0-0-0 Big 12) who scored first in the 13th minute off a corner kick.
Liz Eddy led the charge on offense for the Mustangs as she totaled four shots in the game.

SMU found a spark in the second half as the Mustangs generated quality looks more frequently. Kelly Gordon, Nyah Rose and Lindsay Nicholson each had opportunities to score but to no avail.

Texas Tech extended its lead to two in the 59th minute, as the Red Raiders' Blackburn pushed on right past goalkeeper Aubrey Brown.

Brown finished the game with three saves on 16 shots faced. In total, SMU ended the game with nine shots taken, with six occurring in the second half.

Hali Hartman and Sydney Japic once again played the full 90 for the Mustangs.
