Does sound doubtful, especially since we don't even have the father yet, but it would not cost us a schollie correct? Since his dad might work for us......
from the link.
"If Lewis goes, does Lee follow? He sure seemed to follow him here."
"Really nothing to spin. I can see SMU wanting to add an established Texas recruiter to its staff, especially an alum. I can see them offering; however, am I wrong that it is illegal for SMU to have offered him a contract after he has signed a deal with UH UNLESS we have granted permission. Don't we usually have our assistants on one year contracts. If so and ICE just signed on with UH in the last month or so UH would have to let him out of his contract.
Also I read Hicks report and he said Ice was offered ; however, he did not say he is going to SMU.
Again there is nothing to spin. Assistants come and go in college all the time."

As Chuck Barkley pointed out, the "benefits" offered at Auburn are pretty sweet.....we can't compete with that. Remember, we are the university that fired its coach for giving a kid lunch and soap.

This could all be bunk, but to Houston fans I would suggest a couple of possibilities: (i) Lewis might not have a signed contract with Houston, yet; and (ii) I am not sure Doherty would need permision to interview Lewis if it was for Assistant Head Coach.

His son is quite good and had already signed with Auburn before agreeing to coach at UH.

How is this a swing and a miss? Did Lewis reject the offer?
As for his son, if he signed elsewhere long before Coach Doherty's position even came open, you hardly can chalk that up against Coach Doherty.

Lunch, soap, and a possible slush fund for the families of recruits. Minor extra detail there.

I was pretty suprised to hear that Lewis' son did not even give TCU a hard look while his dad was there. Maybe he knew Lewis was headed out the door?

Do we even know if Doherty talked to Lewis or was it just a rumor by some bored coogs?
