Stroll over to Texas Roundball and read the "DISD Coach Leaving" thread. I think it tells you all you need to know about the DISD athletic administration.......

Reply DISD Coach leaving for NBA.
Kimball coach Snoop Johnson is leaving Kimball at the end of next week for a scouting job with the Atlanta Hawks. This has been in the works for about a year and a half. They offered him a job last April, but it was not a major scouting position. This will go down by next Thursday. My friend in Austin is the agent who is representing Coach Johnson. He said that coach has been in contact with the Hawks all year. He had been doing some volunteer scouting of Darrell Arthur, for the Hawks. My friend felt coach was going to turn this position down as well. He said coach was telling him two more years. This time it was about the money, and he is going to be reporting straight to the GM. My friend also stated that coach told him, that he didn't like the direction high school basketball was going. This is not a rumor. The contract has already been signed. He reports the first week in June, for the NBA Draft Camp, in Orlando. TRB you got this information first. When this comes out, you need to put me on staff. TRB who will be the top candidate for the job.

Reply Is this the same coach
that was caught cheating a few years ago? If so, is he upset that you can't pick up players for school. Is that what you mean by he doesn't like the way high school ball is going?

It's a shame you would put that mans business out there like that. If it is true then good for him to better his career but don't put him down and tell all he didn't like the school and tell people he was scouting DA. Sounds like the person who put this post is jealous of the coach.

Reply re:malvo
if malvo speaks the truth what is wrong with that...its time to start holding people accoutable for what they have done...it obvious is not affecting what the Atlanta Hawks think of him...That is a good thing...He may have did wrong but he is still continuing with his career...

Its ok to have adversity, especially if you are going to the top...Coach had some adversity but he continues to take long strides...He did not let it stop him, we need to learn from that...

That it is not easy to acheive what coach has done..

Doesn't like the way high school is going?

Like the fact that his daddy, Goree the DISD Athletic Director, hired him in violation of the nepotism rule that is why J.D. Mayo can't hire his son?

Not only that but he doesn't even hold a teachers certificate (word is that he is a parking lot monitor), or a college degree for that matter.

Who else could be the head coach at Kimball with those credentials who wasn't the son?

Who else wouldn't have been eaten alive by the videotape that was aired on TV showing him and Mitch Malone cheating and delivering players from Cedar Hill to Kimball.

Do us all a favor, before you reply to this post, to make sure you don't kill the messenger for the message.

What part of this isn't true???

I’m going to apologize right now for bursting your bubble.

First of all, the (Nepotism Rule) did not apply in this case because Snoop was already an employee of the DISD and he was already an assistant coach for Kimball High School just like Coach Hughes son at Dunbar so there was no violation of the (Nepotism Rule). Also Mayo is only the basketball coach at Skyline he doesn’t have authority as to who is hired and not hired.

Secondly, he was punished for those violations that you mentioned. What more can you do to the man it wasn’t a felony it was only a UIL violation. Actually if he wasn't Goree's son he would have gotten away without a scratch. Just like the rest of the coaches out here but, since his dad is the assistant athletic director they had to make an example out of him.

I want to apologize to my friend and Coach Johnson. I was out of line in putting this information on this web site. I met Coach Johnson 3 years ago. I have not seen the bad guy, that you people make him out to be. He is a guy that truly loves his players and his school. It seems like people have a problem with his dad being the AD. What he did picking up those kids three years ago, coaches have been doing and still are doing. He might not be certified to teach a class at Kimball, but he is a damn good basketball coach. When he leaves, Kimball folks will see what they had. I want to make a correction in closing, Coach Johnson has not officially signed the contract with the organization. That's what happens when you say something without getting from that person. Coach Johnson I apologize.
