In addition to many SMU games, one of the best experiances was the Mavericks playoff game against the Lakers(?) at Moody, just reminds me of what it potential exists!
Current Student is spot on I believe. The Mustang Maniacs in the house makes it from the Dement era (no Koncak) and the blue unis would indicate Tulsa. I think everyone remembers how packed the first time Tech came to visit a few years back was, but we also had two two sellouts in a row against Tulsa during the Sasser regime when Tulsa was good and brought all their fans and we were near the conference lead and flirting with post season play.
I still remember that Tulsa dude launching that lucky 3 from the corner to send the game into overtime after Willie Davis should have sealed the game by stealing the ball and instead of holding out for a foul, tried to do a one on one spin move in the lane and promptly dribbling it off his foot out of bounds allowing the miracle 3 to tie us at the buzzer. And, of course, we lost in over time ![]() Womack + Wishbone = Heisman

I can buy that if Tulsa had Blue and White uniforms. I have not seen them often but thought they wore Blue and Gold. Those Unis almost look like Duke although there are several teams that have that color scheme. I can not imagine Rice having that sized crowd. I have not witnessed a BB game in Moody since 1971, so many games were played there since I last saw them in person, and never got to witness the Mustang Maniacs in Moody.
Well, hold off a little longer. We only had about 7 full time Mustang Maniacs last season... membership is down. Just a sprinkle of red shirts but mostly wooden bleachers. But, hopefully, Doherty will give our fickle students something to cheer about (again).
Could it be possible that those are actually purple uniforms and the picture is from the "midnight madness" game we played against the frogs on ESPN on a late Monday night?
Very possibly. I do not know what the attendance was for that game but those could be TCU unis.
I was at one of those, when I still lived in Dallas. Everyone wearing pajamas. Lee Nailon was still playing for TCU...maybe 1996 or 97? I think the attendance was in the low 4's...I remember being disappointed that the seats behind the baskets were sparsely filled, and wondering if they had to dust them off when DISD had graduations in Moody.
