He should see the floor a lot next year, SMU has some talented and with Doherty at the helm we could do some big things even as soon as next year. Willingham, Roberts, Spencer, and Fall, there is a lot of talent down on the hilltop.

Put down the crack pipe! We will be lucky to hold our head above the .500 mark next season. I have complete faith in Doherty, but everybody needs to give him a pass for next year.

I agree that the Rack will be a very solid player for us next year. I thought he made a HUGE improvement last year. 6'11, a nice touch from mid range and he finally got tenacious on the boards. I was very pleased.

Even though I think Spencer could be a nice player I do not forsee "big things" as soon as next year as someone mentioned. We were terrible last year, lost our only legit scorer, lost a quality bigman in Morris, and added a big who might or might not be even as good as Morris was his freshman year. I still think we improve our record under our new coach but expecting "big things" next year is a bit overoptomistic even for the most adament KoolAid drinker.

Call me crazy, but I expect much better things from the Ponys next year, of course not challenging for the conference or anything, but a big improvement in record.

We will be a bit thin and I am basing it on a few IFs.....If Rack continues to improve, he should be rock solid, Bamba should be better. Big IF but possible...If Roberts and Pearson pull their heads out and play like they are capable of. Saw good things from Killen and Epps toward the end of the year, they should be better. Dez running a good point by improving. We will be thin, but if the guys we have play like they are capable, I think we will do OK, good veteran players.

Of course, this could all blow up if half the team is academically ineligible until January as I have heard rumors of.

Spencer's Video on this Thread

Postby The Falcon » Thu May 25, 2006 12:51 pm

After watching two games - video - see earlier in this thread, I was not
greatly impressed with Spencer's play in these two games. Check it out
and see what you think.

I'm trusting MD on this one. The kid was the Defensive MVP in his
league so he must have shown alot more than he shows on these videos.

The one thing I did note was his passing. He seems to have fairly good hands and does hit open men with good passes when he is double teamed,
so that is certainly a plus.

He also has a big body and is 6'9" - both in the plus category. Doh, having been a center should be able to teach him some good skills.

I also would like to see Doh carefully evaluate our other 2007 commits,
Sloan and Malone. I purposely went to a couple of Pearce games to watch Sloan and was not impressed. Again, he has size and bulk but he
seemed to lack intensity and smarts and jumping ability. He scores points because he is bigger than most people in high school but his athleticism is
questionable which might hamper him in college. I only saw two games
so perhaps I am judging him too harshly - perhaps he was sick or injured and didn't play up to his capabilities when I saw him. That is the sort of
thing Doh will need to judge. I did not see Malone but heard he is a good
player but certainly not a franchise type.

I must have missed the announcement of our 2007 commit from Michigan.
Can anyone give more information about him?

Check the recruiting forum. The thread is something like "Welcome to SMU William Eddie" prolly half way down the page or so.
