Veronica Vaughn: So it's um, the last day of 3rd grade, and you have the teacher alone in your tent, what do you want to do?
Billy Madison: Well I could think of three things I'd like to do. One would involve some ice cubes and a nine iron. Two would involve a buffalo, live or stuffed, preferably stuffed for safety sake, and three, we bring back some of those ice cubes and switch it over to a pitching wedge.

Just 8 short years ago TCU was a laughing stock, p*ssant, joke of a football program. Now, suddenly, they're breathlessly mentioned with Tennessee, Florida and Alabama.
SMU CAN get there, people. There is NO REASON why not. It's ridiculous that Dallas doesn't have a bigtime college football team. Dallas would be a much more attractive site than Fort Worth EVER will be.

Well, if we're talking and dreaming big, I hope Orsini stays here long-term, and when SMU is big time for a long time again, we say screw all yawl, we're gonna be like Notre Dame, and become an independent on a par with Notre Dame. Make sure to negotiate the BCS exception for SMU too.
I think my favorite part of the rumor is that it is being spread by a guy who posts under the name TCUtoBCS06. This dude is a TCU homer and the rumor has spread out of control.
As a Frog fan that reads killerfrogs all the time, I can only say that this hasn't been discussed (or on the rivals board), which would be odd for a rumor of this potential magnitude. I don't think its a secret that the SEC has wanted to get into the Texas market for a while and while it is theoretically possible something like that could transpire, there are many incorrect assumptions on the post on the Texas Tech board, including the original opine that the BE was going to expand soon (just signed some nice TV deals). But the biggest thing against this is that I really think it will be tough for any conference to get the votes to go to 14- just too unwieldy for scheduling and maintaining rivalries. Also, while there are preliminary plans for updating Amon Carter Stadium (corp boxes, concorse facilities, needs to meet ADA handicap minimums if any work done at all, etc) expansion of seating has not been discussed.
Sure some SEC teams would like to pierce the Texas market, but only if the Aggies were one of the teams. Now if UT were to start eyeing the PAC 10 and the Aggies were to start eyeing the SEC, you might see some interesting movements shake-ups (none of which at this point would benefit SMU). Who would the SEC add to go with the Aggies? VT, USM, UCF, USF, Miami, FSU, GT, UTEP, Houston, Baylor, TCU, SMU, Tulane or Rice? Who would the PAC 10 add to round out the field? BYU, UNM, Utah, UH, UTEP, SMU, TCU, or Rice? Who would the Big XII invite to back fill? SMU, Rice, Tulsa, TCU, UH, BYU, UT, UNM or UTEP? This could cause ripples in the ACC and BE as well if one of the SEC teams came from those conferences. I suspect that the BCS has an unwritten understanding that they are not going to rob each other at this point because if they did, it would probably destroy the BCS as we know it and the NCAA Division I football as we know it.
