HPs O-line was anchored by 3 seniors who went Div-1A.
As per the Marshall coaches, they were "mammoth, big, aggressive, huge, disciplined, focused, very large".

Under normal circumstances, I would have to go Stallion-esque on this player. But HP isn't normal. I bet he is a good player, and I bet he turns into something much better than good.

Sure hope so. It would be great to have an HP guy have big-time success at SMU, and increase the flow of players to the Hilltop.

I like what I hear about his work ethic.

In any event, welcome to the Hilltop!

Rivals just did a report on the Turner Commitment. Three points add some more info. 1) SMU was his only offer, 2) he did start last year-or at least made First Team All-District 3) SMU coaches plan to play him at Guard or Center.

This kid sounds like a good commitment. Size is a slight concern...hopefully our coaches can get him up to 280 at least.

I double checked that All-District statement and quite frankly he wasn't on the All-District team listed in the TexasPrepxtra the Rivals Texas High School site. However, get this all 5 Highland Park Linemen were named to the 5 All-District Offensive Lineman slots-so apparently he didn't start but he played behind a pretty impressive group. I know of two not 3 that got Division 1A scholarships-Reid Prince(Baylor) and Olson (Tech)

I can't imagine that would be any problem at all. I was skinny coming out of high school and added a ton of weight (almost literally) in my first couple of years. And I didn't even lift weights (other than the 12-ounce variety). On a kid this size, with as much as he'll be eating and lifting, and as he matures physically, adding considerable size shouldn't be an issue.

I'll take a 6-4, 260 high school lineman that can really run over a 6-4, 320 pound sack of fat anyday. I actually think its easier to develop the athletic kid with the good frame than it is to develop the fat kid with the poor conditioning skills.

I agree with you Stallion. I'm not knocking this kid one bit - sounds like a great commitment and a real find. And judging by the o-line he was playing behind last year, he probably has picked up some good habits from his teammates.

I stand corrected. I read an article about Marshall getting pummeled, and the comment about the 3 came from there. Will check facts better.
Either way, your insight about the All-District nod for the whole line makes our watching this guy over the next year a pretty interesting exercise.
