Facilities construction
Had a thought: I've seen the pictures of the work being done at Westcott Field, and I've heard the tennis courts are moving to make way for the basketball facility.
If those facilities aren't complete in time for the fall season(s), where will those teams compete? Anyone know?

Lotus is right. I remember being told (when we played at Ownby) that there were teams that wouldn't play the Ponies -- not because they were afraid the Ponies would run them off the field, but because their coaches didn't want to play on turf.
How about a game or two at Pizza Hut Park?

The Wescott Field project will be done. They already were getting ready to put in the irrigation system a couple of weeks ago I think.
Once ground is broken on the new basketball facility (it's more than just practice courts), there will be a pretty much simultaneous construction of a new tennis stadium and indoor courts over near where the "temporary" metal football building is behind Dedman. It will be sunk down, so that there is stadium seating.
I think construction will take about 9 months to a year, so there will have to be a temporary home for SMU tennis.
Please make your check out to SMU and send them to Steve Orsini.

I hope you're right. I heard last week that there's a very good chance that it won't be ready, thus the search for an alternate field. Of course, they can't just lay sod at the last minute and roll the ball out there, so in theory they have to be growing the grass when .... by Aug. 1?DiamondM wrote:The Wescott Field project will be done. But aren't they just in the beginning of the fund-raising stage for the tennis courts? I was under the impression that the money raised so far has been earmarked for the hoops facility, so tennis was still in the process of deciding whether to build an indoor OR outdoor facility. Sounds like you're much more in the loop on tennis than I am, though.DiamondM wrote:Once ground is broken on the new basketball facility (it's more than just practice courts), there will be a pretty much simultaneous construction of a new tennis stadium and indoor courts over near where the "temporary" metal football building is behind Dedman.
