Actually I think it is more of a Big 12 thing. With all of the UT and A&M alum (and Tech and Baylor, etc.) and all of them being in the Big 12, any Big 12 team is going to get good coverage. Happenings in Kansas or Missouri will rate good coverage if in a way it relates to UT, A&M or the Big 12 as a whole. I do not like it just like all of we SMUers may not like it but it all comes down to the money.
someone landed a JWillis question, and a follow-up. The follow-up was regarding Cowlishaw's not being aware that SMU played UNT this year, nor where they play. DeMyron & Fitzgerald addressed in another post, prompting Cowlishaw to think "5 wins.."
Later on, he predicted similar to what many of us have discussed: 6-6, on the strength of a UNT win. Hopefully someone else sneaks in an SMU question. After 45min. of live chat, the topics have been Stars Mavs Rangers Cowboys SMU. Nice.
here are the SMU related questions and answers...
moderator: From e-mail: With running backs DeMyron Martin and Johnnie Fitzgerald lining up behind a seasoned offensive line, SMU just might roll up some impressive numbers on the ground. What's your take? Rick Atkinson in McKinney, Texas Tim Cowlishaw: Mustang Mania rules the Metroplex once again. Rick, I think another five-win season is possible but anything beyond that is asking too much. This team lost a lot of experience, doesn't know for sure who the quarterback will be, needs new linebackers and has a lot of holes. Opening against Texas Tech is probably not the best idea, but maybe it gets them ready for what lies ahead. I'm going with 5-7 -- wins over Sam Houston, Arkansas State, Tulane, Marshall and Rice. You can hold me to that unless they do better in which case I will say I was misquoted. rikat: How do you think Denton Ryan product Justin Willis will do at QB for SMU? Tim Cowlishaw: I don't know but it's good to see Phil Bennett land a fairly big-name local product to get the program going. I expect he'll struggle some this year naturally but I actually saw him play against Southlake Carroll and know he has an arm. Let's hope something good happens on the Hilltop to get that team back onto the radar screen. rikat: Thanks, Tim. But UNT beats SMU??? Tim Cowlishaw: OK, did I miss something? Where's my schedule? Hang on............. OK, they do play the not so mean green at home, don't they? Didn't see that one. The Mustangs have just officially been upgraded to 6-6. Way to go, Phil. Find a couple more games there that I missed, and you are in a bowl. RGV Pony: First top 25 ranking on the Hilltop: Matt Doherty or Phil Bennett? Tim Cowlishaw: Heavy Mustang day. I'm going to go with Doherty. Nothing against Bennett but it's easier to get there in basketball with a couple of decent players. Don't think they are on campus yet, but a guy who did a good job at Notre Dame and was good enough just to get the Carolina job has real potential in my mind. Thanks to all. Back next week, I assume. Courage.
Lots of lonely wives and girlfriends out there.......................
What? No props to TC for answering the SMU questions? You all would've bitched if he didn't. At least keep your credibility by acknowledging this. mr pony, I'm looking in your direction.

Evidently, he didn't have much of a choice. I'm thinking the chat room was filled with SMU questions - because a lot of pony fans got off their rears and took some action. They'll listen if we speak up. But, thanks Tim. (I do appreciate his answering them.)
