"23. Matt Doherty. SMU's new basketball coach commanding a $600,000 salary and $12 million in improvements to Moody Coliseum.
22. Gerald Ford/Vic Salvino/David Miller. Without SMU's biggest boosters, Doherty would still be in Florida"

11. Lamar Hunt. NFL founding father also re-booting local soccer with Pizza Hut Park.

Anyone ever run across the CUSA Commish? Aren't they over in Las Colinas somewhere? Someone should tell him to take a page from Miles Brand. NCAA HQ moves to Indy, and guess where 1 out of ever 3 final fours are held?

Leaving Steve-O off the list seems like a gross oversight.

PK's right on that one. The Observer is no more a viable "news" outlet than that SportsPageDallas rag (although at least the Observer has writers who made it past the third grade, and it's not just a printed version of The Ticket).

Well, I'm certainly not going to debate you on the journalistic merits of the Observer--it is what it is. But it's free and informative, and I like to pick up a copy and read it every now and again, and every major metropolitan area has a free Observer-like weekly rag, many more than one, so take it for what it is.
PK, rant on about the lack of SMU coverage, please.

I was giving him the business about his quote re the Observer not talking about Orsini. I thought it was obvious. Thanks for asking.

Hell jt...I read the Observer practically every week, but I certainly don't expect to read anything about SMU in there...at least not sports wise. In fact, if I want to know anything much about any sport, the Observer is not where I would go to find it. Richie Witt can at time be pretty humorous, but hardly a serious sports writer IMHO.

You'll never maintain mr. pony status with that attitude. I just like to read the personals, uh...personally.

The Southland Conference 'home office' (Div. 1-AA) is located in Frisco, TX. Its commissioner, Tom Burnett, lives in the Park Cities in the shadow of S.M.U.
