I don't think it will be a blowout. I do, however, believe we will win by 10 on the strength of a 150 yard game by DeMyron and a defense that will make NT so one-dimensional that we know the play is "handoff to Thomas" before they snap it and we are ready for it.
Look for it to be close in the first half, but we pull away in the 3rd quarter and hold on in the 4th.

That's pretty specific. What lotto numbers should I buy this week?

UNT was scheduled to give Bennett a shot at a winning season and pick enough of a local team that we can have a series with them and get a few of their fans at our game. There are no gimme games for SMU.

It is good for local fan support for both teams, plus it is cheap. No airfare will save some huge cash in the athletic budget

Gotta tell ya', NTSU is not even a blip on my radar screen. They might as well be ETSU or maybe SW Missouri State for all I care. Like the Philly Eagle fan that sees the Dallas Cowboys as a huge rival and is so disappointed to find out that Cowboy fans could care less about the Eagles, the Mean Green are pretty much irrelevant to SMU fans. However, I am still pretty sure that SMU fans still consider the following teams our biggest rivals in the following order:
1. TCU
2. Texas
3. Baylor
4. TAMU
5. Tech
6. Houston
7. Rice
8. UTEP
9. Arkansas
10. Notre Dame
11. Tulsa
12. Tulane
13. North Texas State
Of course you don't get too excited about playing a team that you are 27-3-1 against since 1922. Let's also remember that NTSU has only made it to double figures in 5 games against us as well. So who else is excited about the ride up to Denton for this fierce rivally and the traditional awarding of the "Golden [deleted] Whip" that seems to be the prize of NTSU every time we play them.

Now, 1st, I don't want to hear about how we move conferences too much, etc., etc. because of what I post. But if the above list is true, its sad that it takes til #6 before you get to a conference opponent. BTW, I would switch #5 and #6. Agree with #1, back at ya. #2, Texas? really? Do you really see yourself in their league? Agree with Baylor, I would have put them at #2. Fordham still hates you guys anyway, the ought to be honorable mention.

I'd say the closest thing we have to "rivals" anymore are the old SWC teams we play regularly: TCU, Rice, Houston, Tech. Rivals in the sense of historical significance, not recent competitiveness. I'd think about including Tulane, because we played them fairly regularly over the years on non-conference games. UNT does not qualify, but only for lack of playing them. If we could get a few more games on the schedule at the Safeway parking lot we could have a kind of regional rivalry with them. Who knows.

I believe most SMU fans have not accepted the fact that we are no longer in the SWC. Of course, it does not matter where TCU is playing this week, we will always loathe you. I put Texas at #2 because Texas is the Devil. We may not be in their league but I am not sure there are too many SMU alums that are found of our friends in Austin. I am glad to listen to suggestions for my list. SMU fans also hate Cougar High but since it is in Houston you have to take pity on them and Rice is just pathetic and the women there are ugly as well so they are pitied twice.

Pretty much agree with all those teams you've ranked. While I want to beat them...even if we do it won't mean as much as beating TCU...Houston...or UTEP.

what is that about 10 wins over our top 7 rivals over the last 16 years. Bring on NTSU.

Anyone attending SMU in the last 10 years would laugh in your face if you suggested any of these teams are "rivals". Lets be serious here!
