Is that anything like LAYMAN's terms? Or is that just for the old OU linebacker who got drafted by Detroit?

Without the acts committed by the brothers, there would be no merit -- but there would be a chapter.
Cursing.....? I said the word [deleted]....Insult...? I said don't BE stupid, not you ARE stupid, but lighten up anyways stupid. Ok, you aren't understanding. Let me put this in lehman's terms for you. Trumustangp said it perfectly, the greek system is on its way out at smu. Not only are are they becoming insurance issues, but they are also a large liability for the school. Do you remember the water drinking hazing? Or were you at school yet? Sounds like you are kinda young and don't know how it used to be. Anyways, that kind of story is a huge black eye to the school. Administration is just waiting for reasons to get fraternities off campus. They "have a hand in it" by writing fraternities up more often for things that would get brushed under the rug before. These write ups lead to run-ins with Nationals. Get it?
DUDE
Yes, SMU wrote up the fraternity. Never denied that fact. They do it all the time, but stop shifting the blame from the fraternity to SMU. SMU wrote them up because they deserved it, which lead to the fraternity getting shut down. These are consequences the chapter/brothers should have been thinking about before they got nailed. It is not SMU's fault they got kicked off campus. It's the pothead ex-beta that was smoking in the house.
For the record, I do know about the APhiA incident and have since it happened.

If SMU was just waiting to get rid of the greek system, they wouldn't have paid LXA and SAE $2 million each toward new fraternity houses and allowed them to create separate nonprofits under the SMU umbrella to raise the additional money (approx. $1 million each) needed to complete the two houses. That is $4 million of SMU money plus an additional $2 million raised through SMU, which seems like a lot of money for something that SMU can't wait to get rid of.

If Leon Bennett and Jim Caswell have to discuss the same house more than twice a semester (and it isn't about the building), then the house deserves what it gets. Your comments are anecdotal evidence to that effect. If you disagree, tough. That is the price paid for being able to behave without limits. If you don't like it, then you go to nationals and front both the money and insurance policy to cover the chapter, surety and umbrella liability insurance for the national fraternity's board of directors, as well as a supplemental reinsurance policy to cover the university as well. Welcome to adulthood, kiddo. Sux, doesn't it?

You obviously didn't listen. I don't care that they got kicked off. If it came off as me complaining about it, that wasn't my intent. I explained that I got my 4.5 years out of it. I'm not the type that cared about "brotherhood" and all that crap. Hazing was fun and the parties were alright.
As for calling me kiddo, I refuse to take any insult seriously from a guy who's name contains "The OC". What a joke.

No, I didn't feel it necassary to gain acceptance in school by buying my friends and joining an organization solely for the purpose of making myself feel like I belonged to something.

Man, you are one sad piece of [deleted]. You think people join fraternities "to make themselves feel like they belonged to something? Did you go to school in the 1800's? You join a fraternity to meet new people...just like any other club. Why would you join a golf club? Well, the obvious is so that you can play golf, but also for possible business contacts, and meet new people. But you pay a fee, so are you buying friends? You are dumb.
And you might be right about some people. Some join fraternities because they might not have been accepted in high school and look at college/joining a fraternity as a clean slate. Fraternities give them a chance to feel like they are wanted, like they fit in.
continue jerking to vince.

This thread is ankle deep in amber colored liquid, but it ain't beer. I'd describe it as a byproduct of this 'contest' between ya'll.
Hey, I know how to get this thread deleted so we can all move on.
LIBERALS SUCK. Go back to Cuba, Commies.
That should do it.
Just my two cents.
