TCU Gets 4 Star Jeremy Kerley...from the Hutto Hippos. Offers from just about every team in the Big 12 except UT including Tech, A&M, Baylor, OU, Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado and Arizona, Rated as the No. 33 Player in the State of Texas by Rivals.
Why shouldn't we report a big TCU signing...they are our biggest, and really only rival?? Not that Stallion needs me to defend him, but all he did was post that TCU got a four-star recruit (something we haven't done in many years) and what schools had offered him. I dont understand where all the angst towards him comes from?? Is it because he's too honest?
TCU has done a terrific job of assuming Louisville's place as the best non BCS football school. For several years, UL recruited like crazy and it got them into the Big East during the last major shake up. TCU may be positioning themselves for the same thing.
Yeah, the Big East would be appropriate...TCU has tried every other conference...since when was Fort Worth part of the 'Mountain' West?
TCU has no shot of getting into a BCS conference. If they were going to get into one, it would because the BCS conferences would expand into the Mountain West. Not likely, but the invite would certainly go there instead of CUSA.
Big 12 would rather have SMU because of the media market. That is the SOLE reason the BC is in the ACC, and Dallas is a much bigger market than Boston. Willis to slot receiver!
So the Big 12 would prefer SMU to gain access to the Dallas media market?
Dallas and Fort Worth are covered by the same TV and radio stations, and electronic media exposure is infinitely more important (ratings = dollars) than newspaper exposure. Besides, why would the Big 12 put cracking the Dallas media market so high on its priority list when you've pointed out for us so often that the local media already covers the Big 12 and not us? Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
You really need to stop hanging out with Marion Barry because crack kills. First off, the Big 12 already has the media market as Dallas Diehard pointed out. After all, you're the one who has been complaining about it for some time. Why would they want SMU for something they already have? BTW, I doubt that the sole reason that BC is there because of the media market. One reason is that BC consistently has competitive programs in football and basketball. However the big reason that the ACC took on BC is because the ACC needed 12 schools in order for them to have a Conference Championship game in football. If the ACC had wanted the market so badly,as you claim, then they wouldn't have rejected BC the first time around when they came and got Miami and VT from the Big East.
The two programs that became involved supposedly were Rutgers and BC. Those programs were singled out solely because of the media markets involved. If Rutgers could keep the good players from the region, they would become dominant. Of course, several players from Jersey start for USC and other powerhouses (like UT--Chris Simms). UCONN would have loved to jump ship, but they only recently went D-I (2003, if I remember right). I think you're right with the idea that BC was chosen over the competitors because the ACC thought they would be more competitive. As for SMU's chances to get in the Big 12, they are slim to none. I am not an idiot and realize that fact. I would say that TCU has little chance. If we held Big 12 games in Dallas, it would become difficult because Ford is so small. With the Dallas area, we would draw huge crowds with all of the Conference games. I think our media coverage would become similar to Georgia Tech--the school whose football profile I have always argued corresponds closest to our own in an ideal setting. It is a dream that I still hold onto. Willis to slot receiver!
When Ford was built the original architects noted that the stadium could be expanded to hold at least 44,000. My brother, who is an architect, believes that the east side could be double decked to hold even more. No matter what, I am sure that the money could quickly be raised to enlarge the stadium should it become necessary. Just look at the backers of the football program and you know that the money could be raised with a single check if the right situation presented itself ![]()
When they implement smell into radio and tv, no one will want ft worth. Sir, shooting-star, sir.
