Baylor add's #22

Postby BUTitan » Wed Jul 26, 2006 5:32 pm

Baylor added its 22nd commitment wednesday and it's 8th of the Texas top 100.

http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=43494&Sport=1

He's projected at RB for Baylor.

I know none of ya'll care but I post enough SMU stuff on the Baylor site and thought I should spread it around a little. :D

Granted it is a new regime down there but it seems in past years when Baylor had highly regarded recruiting classes, a lot of their studs never made it past the dreaded SAT........................

They've had their share of busts for sure, like everybody including SMU (Marcus Moseley, anyone?), but their recruiting performance gives their fans true reason to expect good things in the future.

Question about Baylor and their recruiting classes...

Baylor has the reputation of signing a pretty good class, they get some good rankings and then.... 30 % never make it to enroll.

Are these commitments all qualified to go to Baylor?

it maybe too early to really say. Haven't really noticed anyone raising red flags on the recruiting trail about the academic standards of Baylor's class. To be fair-Baylor has let a number of commitments walk toward the end of rrecent ecruiting seasons-several to TCU-who did not appear to be academically qualified. I think at least one or two of those eventually did qualify. As some one that follows recruiting closely I think it is fair to say that Baylor under Morris has not taken as many academic questionmarks as they did in the post-Teaff period-some of that is because the Big 12 has limits on non-qualifiers.

When they had their Top5 class, I think only 13 enrolled out of 25.

I think this is pretty negative assessment.

TCU is a push, Washington State is a Push. Army is a win. K State is very down, that is a push.

I am not going to bag on Baylor, because I feel sorry for them in the big 12. If players want to go there and fight for .500, that is their perogative. If they are interested in actually having a chance to win a conference, they should come to SMU.

Reason for the such low rates for incomming freshmen was because Chuck Reedy would take anyone and worry about grades later. We had 2 from last year's class not make it, but I haven't heard any grade problems from this class yet.

Don't feel sorry for Baylor in the Big 12. We would trade places with them in a heartbeat. If Baylor wants to compete in big time football they can do it. That is the difference a conference makes. We do not have the chance to compete for National Titles, Baylor does.

Realistically we have the same chance (none), but it does help in other sports tremendously.

TCU, WashSt nor KansSt are pushes, get real. BU picked last again in the big xii and that is where they will stay.
