The fact this is the first game of the season works out a lot better for us than them, I think. Both teams have inexperienced QB's (did Harrell take many snaps last year?) and both will be tight considering its the season opener, but I'd much rather play a tight, tense Tech early in the year than a few games in when they've already consistently put up 40 or 50 a game. I'd be shocked if we win, but I don't think we get blown out either. Regardless, a blowout doesnt kill our bowl chances, UNT is the game we should be worried about...a should-win and a must-win if we want to go bowling.

I disagree...the game against the d-2 team is the most important to the future of this program. Overlook them and lose, and you might as well fold up tent for good.

Geez...get a grip JT. The only person that needs to anguish over a possible loss to SHS is PB. It will be his tent that gets folded up.

Sorry PK, I thought the sunshiners anguished over all possible losses. But you're right, that's only after they become ACTUAL losses.

If our coaches are dumb enough to run man coverage against Tech it will be over by halftime. We'll most likely be in zone coverage the whole game and blitz every now and then

Well, the SHSU game doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of the bowl picture, because win or lose we still need six 1-A wins to be bowl elgible. I agree it would be devastating, but numerous teams have lost games to 1-AA opponents recently, the best example off the top of my head is Stanford to UC-Davis last year, but I don't think Stanford is headed to the WAC anytime soon. Lose to UNT however, and six 1-A wins becomes a lot harder.

1-AA victories count toward bowls now.

Do they really? If so, I stand corrected, and we should put 1-AA opponents on our schedule every year then. But I don't see us losing at home to SHSU, whereas I can definitley see us laying an egg in Denton, especially if we have a rough time in Lubbock.

If you put I-AA teams on the schedule every year, you have to listen to Stallion [deleted] about it every year.

He's a whole friggin' bag of tools... Have you seen his chair? Unfortunately, I cannot find a picture of it right now.
