I hear he is enrolled already at Northwestern State (Louisiana) U.
Here's hoping he has a hugely successful season -- good luck, Richuel!

Another former Mustang in the Southland Conference! Wish he had picked Sam Houston State, though. The Northwestern State Demons are a good team, though. Best of luck, Richuel!

Northwestern St. opens up against Kansas. It will be interesting to watch Meeks and Massey in the same backfield.

Is Meeks finally the starter over there?

Yes RGV he is now the starter as a junior after having considerable playing time as a soph. and Northwestern State's punter in his red shirt freshmen season.

I agree with Darkhorse -- good luck Ricky Joe and Richuel.

Massey just wanted to get beat by Baylor in 2 consecutive years. He was good at Hillsboro when i watched him run all over us.

Titan-
If we would have had DeMyron on the field instead of Massey we would have won that game. Ask the frogs!

That's true. Massey had a good game, but Martin is in another league!

Massey has a chip on his shoulder, and i can promise you that he will prove that phil bennett made the biggest mistake of his life. And plus, its all politics anyways. thats how they determine who gets on the field. Massey made the a good decision on leaving. DONT GET ME WRONG BUT THIS YEAR WE WANT WIN MORE THAN 3 GAMES. I THINK WE STILL HAVE ALOT OF WORK TO DO IN THE SECONDARY.

what was the biggest mistake? Starting the freshman All-American RB? I thought he was giving Richuel an opportunity to pursue what he wanted to pursue.
FWIW, I hope both Massey and Meeks excel at NWSU

Not so fast, my friend! (Wow, hadn't offered one of those in a long time -- football season must be coming up.)
First of all, I hope Massey has a chip on his shoulder, and I hope he has a fantastic career at NSU. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, and he was a great guy.
During the loss to Baylor, Massey looked like he was going to get some carries, but once DeMyron Martin got on the field, it was clear we were looking at another caliber of player. Massey is good. Martin has the chance to be extraordinary. It's true that nobody -- at any position -- can match Massey's power, but Martin is a very good runner with a chance to be a truly elite back. Bennett and the rest of Mustang Nation saw that against TCU, and at times during the rest of the season. Is he a complete back yet? Of course not. But Martin is the most talented RB the Ponies have had in 20 years, and it's not even close.
Good luck to Richuel and Ricky Joe Meeks at NSU. I'll be pulling for them all year.
