that's a major loss
There are 4 Mountain West teams in the top 10, 1 for CUSA. Also, 8 of our 9 teams are in the top 30, UNLV is the only one out. So short answer, I am going with no.
and all that's well and good...crappy thing for you folks is that the MWC champ lost to the #27 (out of 30) team on the list. I believe it was Clubber Lang who put it best: "..ain't so bad, champ!" At least for a year, there are some Mustang fans who can continue with "come on back again, champ...and we'll beat you like we did last time..."

Right on! Right on! Right on! (punk frogs ... )
What can I tell you? I thought they were legitimate points. What is your point? Again, sorry you didn't want to play us this year. And we did lose to you last year. I am still proud of our 11 win season last year, just as I am sure you are proud of your run from the early 80's, even if you did have a payroll higher than the Houston Oilers. And while your victory is nice, it didn't keep you out of a bowl like we did with you in our lone victory back in 97. Now that was funny. Good luck, I think a winning season might actually come in the next couple of years. Now there is some real fodder, go ahead and tee of on that!
Frog: just curious...what's your reason for being on this board? It's an S.M.U. fan forum, not a T.C.U. fan forum. Isn't that www.gofrogs.com or something like that? They're missing you over there.
Good god...how many times are we gonna have to hear about the payroll of the early 80s at SMU? Are you posting the same over on the U.T. and A&M fan forums since they did it, too? Yeah, that 1997 win by TCU kept us out of a bowl game. I remember watching it on TV and throwing things at the set. Congratulations. However, this sentence continues to pop up in almost every sports article about the Frogs' 2005 season and I love it: "TCU, whose only loss last year was to the SMU Mustangs...". That just stings, doesn't it? I wish the Frogs much success this year...maybe it will be the year that ya'll burst the BCS bubble...in fact, I hope so. I hate the BCS. But there will always be that question mark about whether it could have been done with SMU on the schedule, too. O.K. Fire up that Iron Skillet...let's have some ham & eggs!
I seem to remember TCU getting probation in 1986, for a BIG payroll themselves. Paid some pretty heavy cash for Kenneth Davis, Egypt Allen etc.....!!!!

See? Now thats the kind of vitriol I was hoping for!! I'll give you that you were better than the Oilers, but as far as getting what you pay for, it would have been nice to keep Craig James on retainer, he doesn't have much to say good about either of our programs now, or their prospects for the future. Guess that ESPN/ABC/BCS check is too big. What an assss.
