Practice thread

Postby JasonB » Thu Aug 03, 2006 10:20 am

Just thought I would start a thread for whenever folks have practice observations, so that we can lump them into the same space...

I swung by the practice field yesterday at 5 but no team...though the goalie for the soccer team was practicing. Kid is built like a house on top could pass for a DB or Weakside LB

I assume the goalie me@smu is talking about is Steve Sandbo .... although even at 6'5" and 200-plus, he doesn't match up with former Mustang GK Byron Foss, who's 6'6" and got to 230. Rumor has it Mike Cavan saw him hitting goal kicks 70 or 80 yards and wanted to recruit him to kick off.

I thought Byron was no more than 200 lbs at most. Now Eric Foss, that guy stacked on some LBS like he was paid by the pound. But nowhere near 6'5 as I recall.

Yeah the goalie was Sandbo but I am not buying the 194 that the roster lists him as. Oh and I mentioned Weakside on purpose since he is at least as big as Wilton McCray.

Sandbo is a lot bigger than McCray.
And Byron Foss was well over 200. Met him once - that kid is huge.
Isn't he playing in MLS now?

As for practice chatter, I've heard the first couple have been closed, as the coaches determine what they have to work with.

I don't get it. Huge must be relative. Like for a soccer player.

Big is not big till you get to 270 plus.
