Somebody today at Stoops' press conference mentioned that Peterson now drove a Lexus, as if that in itself was a violation.

So, let's look at the national champs, that's all.

That's not what they were referring to. This same car dealership got in trouble last spring for allowing Peterson to drive a Lexus "with the intention to buy"

So you're suggesting every year the National champ will be audited to make sure there was no wrong-doing in that sports year so as to validate their championship status?

Sounds like a variation on drug-testing, like they do in some sports (Tour de France, for example).

ESPN.com is reporting that the coach at A&M-Commerce has already announced publicly that Bomar can be their QB if he wants.

You stay classy Commerce.

Vince Young was a great player coming out of high school. Just because he went to UT doesn't make them cheaters. He had to go somewhere, didn't he. can't think of anything that makes more sense than the biggest school in the state that is right down the hgihway. Can you?

The great players have to go somewhere.
Someone has to win a national championship every year.

They're not all cheaters.

How about the Top 10? Might clean up the game ... and level it some too.

Never said they all were. But I don't think even a majority in the big money conferences are clean. (Fifteen mil for a bowl is pretty tempting.)

I'm guessing it's a fairly complex system, perhaps having to do with scholarship account funds, etc.

(Of course, Bomar's was pretty d*mn stupid and right out in the open, evidently.)

I was listening to ESPN game day this morning and they were interviewing Jerry DiNardo. He said Stoops did the right thing and that the players need to be punished as well as the boosters. He then mentioned SMU and that Bo Schembechler refused to recruit any SMU players in 1988 that were released from their scholarships. And then repeated SMU got the death penalty several times after that. The DP was 20 years ago, but we still get slapped about it.

As of the time he was released by OU, he is ruled ineligible (per ESPN). The following steps must be taken if he wants to play at another NCAA institution:

1) He must pay the excess pay back to Big Red Sports/Imports
2) He must file an appeal with the NCAA for reinstatement
3) Once reinstated, OU must grant permission for other schools to talk to him.

Bomar's other options include
1) Being cleared by the NCAA to transfer to a Junior College
2) Transferring to an NAIA institution

Rumor on the UT board has both Bomar and Quinn headed to TCU.
