I've stayed at that Holiday Inn before. Nothing fancy, but it is close to the stadium...though not quite walking distance close. Decent place to stay overall.

I reserved a room with them yesterday! It's the same hotel the team is staying at.

Though not within walking distance, the La Quinta - Medical Center is where we have stayed in the past. Very nice. I currently have two rooms reserved that I will be releasing soon. They were booked several months ago when we were still attending the TT game.

Why did you book them in the first place knowing what you already knew, what with young daughters and all?

If you haven't booked yet, there is a Days Inn right across University from the stadium. If you want to be within walking distance, that's the only place I know of. I've never stayed there so I don't know what the quality of the hotel is.

As of Friday, the Mustang Club still had rooms at the Holiday Inn.

Because it's quiet, rooms are suites that connect and they have a continental breakfast which my daughters like. That's why.

No, maybe I wasn't clear. Why did you book rooms and tickets to a game you would never bring your daughters to because the fans are jack@sses?

Wouldn't hotels "right across from the stadium" already be sold out for opening game weekend?
Wish it was an Embassy Suites, but Holiday Inn will have to do.

Earlier this year we were still considering attending and booked the rooms. But after some discussion between my wife and myself about a week ago, we decided not to go.

I don't know.
And I don't think there's an Embassy Suites within 200 miles of Lubbock

Actually, what was once the Barcelona Court hotel is now the Embassy Suites in Lubbock. And it's sold out that weekend. The only hotel to get Hilton points/miles with is the Hampton Inn.
I also have a reservation at the Holiday Inn Towers, but I think I'll cancel it, because a) I want the points & miles, and b) I heard it's in a crappy part of town, and c) by the time we'll be there (Sat. after the game), the team will likely have left anyway

You mean they actually do have an Embassy Suites? Wow, I'd have never believed that.
Normally when we go to Lubbock, we stay at Comfort Suites on South Loop 289. It's no Embassy Suites, but it's nice enough. But if you can get the Hilton points, try to get the Hampton Inn! I've never stayed there, but it looks decent on the outside at least.
Yes, Holiday Inn Towers is not in the best part of town...Lubbock's downtown is dead and there are no restaurants, etc. around there. And for some reason Avenue Q is poorly lit at night.
Most restaurants are on the south and west sides of town, off the loop.
