When Coach Faucette was at Texas, he worked under that big conditioning coach down in Austin (can't remember his name - Mad Dog someone....)
Anyway, MadDog got some level of notoriety for having his guys train in part by running in a sand pit. He said it helped with balance, and strengthened players' ankles and knees. I think I remember Coach Faucette say he hoped to add a sand pit here for the players to train in. Any word on whether that's in the works?
Can't be very expensive.

Re: Training
There was a RB at USC, Bell, who used to train by running in the sand on the beach. He wasn't bad. Must be a good idea.

Ricky Williams still goes back to Austin to train with Mad Dog in the offseason, in part to run in the litter box. Even though he lives in Miami, where sand is rather plentiful, as I recall.

Re: Training
Yeah, forget the sand pit. Let's build a whole damn beach. I'll move back to Dallas for that.
Re: Training
the sandpit is already being used. it's on the north end of Bell track. the players call it diesel beach!!!
Re: Training
There's a sand pit at the track? I don't remember seeing it at the soccer games last season. You mean near the SAE and LXA houses?
I really shouldn't drink and type.
Re: Training
Yes ...by the SAE house behind Letterman dorm. They are using it and seem to like it. Working hard.

Re: Training
Are the guys running in the sand over the summer, or just during the season and/or spring?

Oh wait a second.. I think I fell into that pit one night.. walking back to my dorm after consuming too much of a certain substance at a frat party. Good times.
