Thursday practice observations

You could say that about the entire team - but we are not in the Big 12. We just have to get guys better then the CUSA and our "natural rivals", and most of our team is finally in that category.

One play I forgot to mention from Thursday's practice:

A holder is one of those guys who doesn't ever get noticed unless he messes something up, but Duke Hasson turned in one of the most impressive plays of the evening. During field goal drills, a snap came in low, bouncing twice on its way back to Hasson. When the ball got to him, it was lying on its side. Hasson kept his composure, palmed the side of the ball and rolled it up on its end in one smooth motion. The field goal was good.

As insignificant as it seemed, it might have been the best play of the night.

I agree. It seems that all the "good" plays were caused by an over abundance of "bad" plays.

Use a little logic here guys. If you had the best offense in the world and the best defense in the world, you'd get average practice reports. Chill. It's just observations from a practice.

Yes, much better to have a mediocre team so that the holder's highlight can get more notice.

You're right, JT, if that play is any kind of highlight, we're in trouble. Nevertheless, it was a hell of a recovery by Hasson.

Did you notice if they were running the infamous QB punt play that has been a staple during the Bennett regime? Perhaps they were putting it in the gameplan at the scrimmage on Saturday.....

Complain about the secondary when the receiver makes a catch. Complain about the receivers when the secondary breaks up a pass. Complain about the QB when a linebacker knocks down a ball. Complain about the defensive line when the RB makes it through the line. Any time there's a good play made in practice, point out that someone else on our team blew it. And when both sides hold each other to a standstill, complain of mediocrity.

Why not just enjoy the reports?

Why can we not complain about a poor snap on special teams? Not an important enough part of the game for this well-oiled football juggernaut?
