there has been some previous discussion of this kid. 6-4, 230 4.7 SMU is the first and only to offer. Comments about SMU indicated he liked the Coaching Staff. Also likes Stanford because their new Stadium. Also says TCU is interested and may offer if he wants to play DE. Other schools interested include CSU, Kansas, Vandy.

It sort of reminds me when David Neill first popped up. When we heard "well, SMU is his ONLY offer". I hope this one doesn't have the same outcome.

A friend of mine, who is an expert on Texas high school football (he wrote the website! ), has Hlavaty on his 1st team defense 4A Region II list. ( http://www.texashsfootball.com/previews06/teamtexas/4areg2.htm)
He also gives Hlavaty mention on his preview of District 13-4A ( http://www.texashsfootball.com/previews06/districts/class4a/dist134a.htm)
Dallas Wilson will now have to deal with life after Sergio Kindle. With back up Rodney Malone and the emergence of Damien Washington, the transition phase begins. But all is not lost for the Wildcats. The do return quarterback Kevin Rusk to take the snaps offensively and standout linebacker Jack Hlavaty. Do not be shocked if the Wilson Wildcats find a way to repeat as the district champion. Rusk, a dual threat quarterback, will be looking find more room to help the offense produce while Hlavaty will be looking to repeat last year's stellar performance.

I heard we also might be recruiting this guy as a defensive end. I assume it's one of those cases where we want to get him on campus, and then the coaches will just figure out which position he's best-suited for.

Why would he care about Stanford's new stadium. It is common knowledge that facilities do not make a difference in recruiting.

I have talked to someone that has seen him play, and while he doesn't have great speed, he has good size, strength and toughness.

Rivals has some videos of Hlavaty a up now. He plays an outside LB position but I'd be surprised if he has the speed or feet to play LB in college. I'd think he would more likely be a DE in college.

He looks good...gets a few really good hits in the videos. Seems a little tentative at times, almost like he is letting the play develope and hoping it it something he can attack rather than just attack everytime.
