Well it looks like Houston saved it's bowl. Reliant Stadium is pretty darn nice, so that's a plus - I guess.... though it is in Houston. ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh
So that's 7 bowls the Conference is now associated with?
Liberty Bowl GMAC Bowl Birmingham Bowl Fort Worth Bowl Hawai'i Bowl New Orleans Bowl Texas Bowl ![]()
Last year only 6 teams were bowl eligible. So that means as long as you get your 6 wins, you're in a bowl. Kind of nice not to have to worry about landing an at large bid, eh?
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.
If I remember correctly from another article I read, it will be Big 12 vs Big East in even years and Big 12 vs CUSA in odd years. I could be wrong though.
Does this mean every DI-A team in Texas is eligable except NTSU? I'm surprised they haven't come over here complaining that we kept them out of that too!
According to their website. it's Dec 28 for the Texas Bowl. http://www.texasbowl.org/
Jan. 7 GMAC Mobile, Ala. ESPN C-USA No. 2 vs. MAC
Dec. 30 Liberty Memphis, Tenn. ESPN C-USA No. 1 vs. SEC No. 6 Dec. 28 Texas Houston, Tex. NFL Network Big XII vs. Big East or C-USA Dec. 23 Fort Worth Fort Worth, Tex. ESPN MWC vs. C-USA Dec. 23 Birmingham Birmingham, Ala. ESPN2 C-USA vs. Big East or MAC Dec. 22 New Orleans New Orleans, La. ESPN Sun Belt vs. C-USA
There's a full list at http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9443142.
Also, I don't believe CUSA is sending anyone to Hawaii anymore, I believe the PAC 10 took over our spot.
Hawaii Bowl still in the mixCUSA has tie-ins with six bowls in the 2006 season and guaranteed spots in five of them.
Liberty Bowl is set through 2009. GMAC Bowl is set through 2008. Birmingham and New Orleans are also set through 2009. Fort Worth (2006, 2008) and Hawaii (2007, 2009) will alternate hosting a CUSA school the next four years. The Texas Bowl will host CUSA teams in 2007 and 2009. I'm old school, and can't help it.
