Nice to see they have not taken the blocked punt out of the game plan. That always catches the opposition off guard. They think they are going to have to put a long drive together and we surprise them by giving them a touchdown or a short field.

I don't know how I feel about a couple things though. Especially the two straight blocked punts....to be happy or worried about that. .
Blocked punts have become a regular special teams play during the Phil Bennett era....and at least we still have the QB quick kick play for this year!

That's cool. I remember seeing Dement at games on a few occasions. Can't say I ever saw JT there (Tubbs, not stang).
Anyone ever see PB or JB at a bball game?

I will go ahead and point out ****minor**** details about those blocked punts that no other soul here seems to have caught on to.
Our 2nd string punter lined up behind a punt team of small guys in orange jerseys, only to then have half his punts blocked by the starting punt return team. Was I the only one who saw the orange jerseys? If I remember correctly, doesn't that signify scout team?
It seems our clever Phil Bennett was running punt block, punt return drills to throw off all spectators and possibly Tech scouts. In turn, we might all complain our way into convincing Tech to suicide blitz our punt team so we can take a fake 75 yards. Mission accomplished.
Oops, I think I just ruined the surprise.

Did we use the scout team to block for the punter all last year?

I'm not worried about scrimmage blocked punts, either. This kid gets the ball off d*mn quick - a light years improvement over last year.
The qbs will be fine. I think Bennett knows what he has and he knows who was watching last night. They were going through the motions about 75% of the time, I think. More attention was paid to getting teams on and off the field, signaling plays in, and not getting anyone hurt.
See you in Lubbock....
