DMN's More Than Adequate Coverage of SMUToday's coverage: Story on punter's big average in scrimmage (in a show of obvious pro-SMU bias, no reference of blocked punts in scrimmage) AND stories on defensive perfrmance in scrimmage, kicker's performance in scrimmage, and timing of implementation of TT game plan.
I guess Kellis Cunningham missed PAT and missed 27 yard FG did not count. This looks like an SMU press release to me not DMN coverage.
My question on this astute reporting is why does the punter's height have anything to do with the number of steps taken to punt. You do not punt from a spot, you just get the kick off. I would think the comment should have mentioned one step kick versus 2 step, but then again, I am not a punter, nor am I a reporter.
Good to see the coverage in the DMN. I've never been one to get too upset with the lack of coverage. I understand both sides: that it's a business and SMU right now doesn't sell papers. But it's certainly true that there is at least *some* responsibility to report your local college team.
Oh, by the way JT, I've noticed a characteristic of yours. You like to argue. With anyone. About anything. Just an observation.
Very astute. Just now getting that are you? It's in my nature. Occasionally I do agree with folks, even you. But it's ironic that this revelation came to you in this thread, where all I did was summarize today's coverage in the newspaper, nothing else. Now, in the spirit of compromise, let's all "give our heart" to SMU.
The fact that Morstead is taller is only relevant in the sense that his "levers" are longer, and therefore theoretically can develop more footspeed. Sort of like those golf (sort of) long drive contests -- those guys use drivers that look like pool cues, they're so long.
