How bad is the oline?

I listened to the game on the Ticket (on and off as I was working last night). Since Oline play is rarely covered by the broadcasters, I'm curious how those in attendence felt on the topic. From the stats it doesn't look promising.

My understanding of the oline's game: DeMyron was getting nothing between the tackels. Fitz and Mapps were able to pick up yardage around the outside. Willis seemed to have "enough" time to pass. I can't tell how often his rushes were busted plays, or by design though. So, was the pass blocking there?

I wasn't surprised that Tech hung 30+ on us, but I am dissapointed in the offense over all. That fumble by Willis on the 10 was just a heartbreaker.

I thought the o-line looked better than last year. There were not a lot of plays that were just jailbreaks. Willis scrambled a few times when there was pressure, but it also seemed like that was also a factor of a) good pass coverage by Tech and b) Willis having success scrambling early in the game, thus causing him to think he'd be able to run for the first down on the many third and long plays we had.

As far as run blocking, the biggest factor there was Tech wisened up to and made adjustments for our running game 'gameplan' after the first drive. The same play that we have all grown to know and hate-the slow developing quasi-draw up the middle-just got stuffed after that. What could've made a difference-a bootleg out of the draw-was shut down the first and only time we ran it, IMO because Willis was timid when he saw shadows and didn't get to/around the corner quick enough.

The reason JFitz looked good his first appearance in the game was because he bounced it outside, and Tech had gotten used to just pinching their DTs for every run play. Considering we passed for under 80 yards, there wasn't much else for them to respect.

The O-line did not give up a single sack. There was only one sack all game at it was Graham Harrell that was on the turf. Regardless of how good or bad one might thought the oline did last night, they did not give up a sack to a Tech team that many are predicting will end the season much higher than their current #25 ranking. That says something. Who knows what, at this point - but something.
