I was there too. No question, the worst I have ever experienced. Tech is just a NO class school. We had some students around us that I am sure their other opportunity for life after high school was a junior college.

For the game, Tech has a good football team. I actually thought our defense played OK but the offense......

I can't speak for the people in the sections mentioned above, but I went to the game with some friends from Tech (we were on the side Tech's players were on) and didn't hear anything that you wouldn't hear at TU or any other large school's stadium. Other than a lot of childish criticism of our band from sum beach behind us, I didn't have any problems with the crowd in our section.

As for the game, I was encouraged by Willis' poise, considering his inexperience. He was not accurate at all on throws beyond 10 yards, but I thought his short game was good, especially for his first time out there. He doesn't look like he has the footspeed of Ramon Flanigan, but he has good escapability and made some people miss. I didn't see any "panic" throws that we traditionally see from our QBs. He didn't give the game away.

Our special teams looked a lot better than I thought they would. Great punting and kickoff distance, and our returners are an asset.

Mapps looked good and could be a nice change of pace to Martin.

I thought the defense played a lot better as the game went on. We couldn't stop anything on a few of their drives. That said, not many teams go into Lubbock and do much better on defense. We started to get some pressure on Harrell in the second half and he didn't look nearly as good, but early on, he had all day to throw.

If you had told me that we would hold Tech to 35, I would have taken it. The offense was disappointing, but we have a young QB... give him some time and see how he develops. Not to draw a direct comparison, but keep in mind how bad Vince Young was his first year.

I have sat on the Tech press box side too. It's kind of hard to trash talk from that area..........who are they gonna trash talk to? That's where most of the blue hairs, and big Jim Jacks sit.

Have to admit, society has definitely changed in the last 20 years.

I guess you can't beat secularism big-boys!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I think most of Willis' scrambles in the first half were just him tucking and running he seemed to hit his back foot on the drop and if he didnt see anything he took off. I think the coaches talked to him at halftime as in the 2nd half he seemed to wait a few beats and try to look at secondary and tertiary reads. Most of the called QB draws seemed to be out of the 2 back set. I do like the short shotgn formation with the QB at about 3 yards and the RB at aboiut 7 I believe Nevada dubs it the "Pistol". That was the first time we had shown that formation but it seemed to give Willis some extra room to step back from the lineman and to see the defense. Haywood was also in the TT backfield on numerious occasions just couldnt quite get to Harrell but made him aware he was there. Muse was pretty good, Rogers was quite but I expect him to still have a good year. I think with better DE play Haywood will have a large numer of sacks this year. Disappointing game as we failed to score 2 times from inside the 30, which couild have made the final score look better.
