How many more years will we be "rebuilding"? It appears that Cave-in's first year might be as good as it is going to get.

AS LONG AS IT TAKES! I think last year was one of our best years since the DP. While it wasn't a winning season like Cavan's freshman year, it was filled with some major victories. Give Bennett a break! We're one game into the season and a tough game at that.

How many more "brilliant" and "insightful" posts will we get from you? ![]()
I bet you're the same kind of fan who leaves early as soon as it appears the team is going to lose. ![]() Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
I totally disagree and I have been supporting the team for a long time. I also have numerous sizable bets of the team making a bowl this year. However, we finally have an AD who knows how to rebuild and win. He goes and gets the best coach possible. We should have done this 15 years ago. I like Bennett but I think that if we lose this game Orsini should have free reign to bring in whoever he wants.
I also think it is no coincedence we win games late in the year that have no implications because bennett finally loosens up and lets the dice roll a bit. So lets hope he does this with North Texas and we can drop this tread.
Good gosh! We haven't had enough talent in the past decade to have a good coordinated [deleted]. Yes, some good players but not the volume of talent needed to win as a team. Now that Bennett, against great odds has gather enough size, speed and skill to put SMU back on the map, folks are yelling to fire him every snap of the ball. Give this team time to prove it can compete. That means an entire season.
To suggest a new coach if we lose to a team (1) in an inferior conference, (2) with a smaller athletic budget, (3) with inferior facilities, (4) less time in Division 1-A, and (5) a worse recruiting classes the last few years (according to Rivals). I guess my expectations are too high for Bennett's buddies who post on this board.
If you don't think it's better than it was two years ago or four years ago, you're not watching the same team the rest of us are.
And as for UNT being in an inferior conference, having inferior facilities, etc., that's true. It's also true that the team went to a bowl four straight years and might not be as devoid of talent as we'd like to think. We should win, but I don't see a cakewalk, by any means.
